LOL, good for you mate. I will move up one day but for starters the Class-D's will do. Can't say I am a great fan of BOSE. Been there before.

Don't get me wrong, the Class D's have served me well and were fine to get things up and running. Never had any complaints as such, I did find they lacked a certain clarity but a few tweaks with the EQ gave acceptable results.

Comparing them to the Bose is like comparing a Fiesta to a Jaguar. I know what I've been missing now.

Well done, I'm sure you'll be more than happy with them. Dashed good price too. Your next investment I would suggest is a T1 (Tonematch) Unbelievable difference in sound quality. :approve:

EDIT: I have mixed opinions on those Bose now. I heard them at the Mobile DJ Show in Lacey Green and they did sound nice but at the latest SEDA show, down in Kent, they did sound harsh and there was a serious lack of bass when standing at the back of the room.

It wasnt a massive room either.

I think you can run it with one drain pipe, especially for the likes of live guitarists etc, but it would look a bit silly for a disco me thinks.... :)

EDIT: I have mixed opinions on those Bose now. I heard them at the Mobile DJ Show in Lacey Green and they did sound nice but at the latest SEDA show, down in Kent, they did sound harsh and there was a serious lack of bass when standing at the back of the room.

It turns out that Brian Mole was experimenting with a Mackie SWA1501 and the L1s, which is why it sounded a bit strange.

The L1s and B2s can be run on their own, but I agree they do look a little strange.

That is true. Bose show pictures with a band on a stage where the guitarist has his own L1 but as for mobile disco, unless you run things in mono, you really need to get another one.

I watched this video and noticed one of the comments said "6 L1's were used for this 5 piece band (guitar was in stereo). So, if a 5 piece band are using 6 L1's is 1 enough for a mobile disco to cover say a medium sized venue for 200? What kind of gig can 1 L1 cover? I'm going to need to hear one of these for myself I think, I feel a bit left in the dark.

I'm not that far away if you fancy a listen BH,

To those suggesting I get two and run them Left and Right, that kind of defeats the purpose (The thing is supposed to be placed behind you centre stage, that way you get to hear exactly what the customer is hearing!). They have four seperate channels and I split Left & Right over two of them, sounded fine to me, in fact they sounded **** nice.

Stop thinking conventional (Left & Right) think of it more as a 3D sound projector, most people sit either left or right of the disco at most functions I've been at, they're either getting blasted by the left channel or the right, so in effect the only ones benefitting from a true "stereo" experience are those directly in front of your setup, the L1 is also dead centre and produces the same effect.

Two may be overkill as the unique sound spectrum they have could clash, however one at the front and one at the back would work wonders.

Each to their own I suppose, I think One L1 and 2 B1s would suit most small function suites for say 150-250 heads. 2xL1s and 4xB1s would be enough for any hall I've ever done. Thought I was going to get it for under Two grand too!!

I use 1 L1 and 2 B1's and it can EASILY cope with 200. Some dj's on the Bose forum reckon they combo could handle up to 300 people,

thats what i thought, i bought 2 L1's and 4 B1's,however i have used them all together and also just 1 L1 with 2 B1's and they sound fantastic either way.

once you have used just the single set up and hear the phenominal sound you soon forget you are only using 1 set plus the set up and placement options are greater,and they look unobtrusive compared to conventional bins and tops.
