Last Nights Gig... Nightmare before it even started.

Last night i did a joint 40th/50th Birthday party at The Kingston Communications Stadium. Those that follow football will more than likely know that its the home of Hull City football club and for Rugby Hull FC. Yesterday we played Millwall in the FA Cup Fourth Round. I wasnt at the game but the Millwall fans were ripping seats up from Hull Citys stadium and throwing seats at the Hull city fans. Which basically broke into a lot of trouble during the game.

There was Millwall fans starting trouble outside a pub near the stadium and police with riot shields and allsorts because a big riot was expected. Then half of the millwall coaches been escourted out of hull by police.

It made us about an hour late for the function we only just got there as the function was about to start. The Stadium is 15 minutes from home. We set off at 5:00pm. by about 5:20pm we were about 800 yards from the KC Stadium and the traffic was terrible. We only moved 100 yards. in over an hour by the time we got to the stadium it was half past seven. We couldnt turn round and go any alternative ways because the roads were also blocked as mentioned on radio.

as soon as i found out about the wait. I rung the organiser who was stuck in a lot of traffic at the other side of the stadium. It was 9:00pm by the time we had got the disco setup and switched on. Last nights function was 2 hours delayed.

Plus the millwall fans starting trouble in the KC stadium car park we had stones thrown at our window by millwall fans because of the hull city sticker. Its the worst ive ever seen. Some of the fans didnt know how to behave themselves.

We got setup and started the disco and then a load of Millwall fans burst into the function room trying to start a fight with the function guests. Police come into the function room to escort them out. I thought my equipment was going to go over.

A lot of the guests then went home within an hour because a lot of them were fuming. I played to 5 people from 10:00pm while 1:00am.

So really it pretty much ruined last nights function. But the guy was happy with what we did there.

Exactly!! Some ARE morons but then again there are morons in every walk of life aren't there. I am a football fan but I don't go to matches. I went once in 1980 as a kid with my dad and brother and it was a nightmare back then too. I don't know what it is to be honest with you that makes people so passionate about it that they want to go and kick someone's head in just because they like a different team.

I've seen countless documentaries and films on the subject and it's amazing how these people work 9-5 all week and then when the weekend comes around they actually look forward to a 'tear up'. It's not my cup of tea at all.

I went once in 1980 as a kid with my dad and brother and it was a nightmare back then too. I don't know what it is to be honest with you that makes people so passionate about it that they want to go and kick someone's head in just because they like a different team.

I feel for you in that situation, its bad enough when a fight breaks out at any function , let alone a bunch of mindless football thugs who obviously have a lot of growing up to do.

When i got there..... there was 3 Millwall coaches in the stadium car park. Im guessing it was the coach with the Lunatic Army on them. By the time the disco had started. The security must have gone back to the security office. The only staff present were the bar staff at the time. But the security staff werent far away as they soon got there to get them out.

Its the worst hooliganism they have seen since the stadium opened in 2002 one of the managers said to me who i spoke to. Its a nice ground the Kingston Communications Stadium and the Milwall fans have vandalised the away stand including the toilets concessions stand and the seating.

Hull Play sheffield united next and i doubt the Hull City fans will go to Brammall Lane and vandalise their stadium if they are losing or lose.

I have worked at the stadium a few times and i have never seen anything like it.

Millwall has areputation of having the worst fans in the league for as many years as i can remember they have caused havoc where ever they went.

i am surprised that the police allowed them to sill be in the stadium at that time i think that was bad planning there but i am glad you was not hurt and your equipment damaged

In the rugby league. Id agree about the Hull FC fans. Hull now is a city with two superleague rugby teams and a premiership football team.

there is a very big rivalry in the rugby here and id agree about some of the Hull rugby fans.

Hull FC - Been in the West of Hull (superleague)
Hull KR - Been in the east of Hull

between those two sides there is a fair bit of trouble as both sides hate each other. But ive seen what some of the Hull rugby fans are like and they are idiots to be fair.... but i would never tarnish them alll with the same brush. Just like the Millwall fans. They will have their well behaved fans as well as their fans that are Thugs. But from seeing a video on youtube it seems that most of Millwalls fans were Scum.

A KNIFE-wielding gang has trashed a prestigious art exhibition in the grounds of Liverpool's Roman Catholic cathedral.
The yobs destroyed the Dreamspace project within hours of it being opened.
Up to 15 youths climbed the steps to the Metropolitan cathedral plaza and broke through hoardings.
A security guard tried to stop them but was threatened by the armed mob who then went on the rampage.
They ripped up the massive air-filled dome causing damage which will cost thousands of pounds to re-pair.

Distraught artist Maurice Agis says the plastic material was torn using knives or blades.

Organisers are facing a race against time to repair the dome and are predicting it will reopen on Wednesday.

Mr Agis said: "A lot of blood, sweat and tears has gone into the project so it's galling to see it ruined just 24 hours after opening.

I was being flippant, wasn't saying it doesn't happen at other events, but it is far more common for violence/loutishness to follow football round.
