You lot may laugh, but there's a case for extra kit.
Pull up a chair, and a stiff cocoa, it's a long tale. :D
Local gig, at a regular venue Social Club attached to a Village Hall. I had a
21st in the club, while there was an 18th in the Hall. ( One of the last, they're sick of the cleaning afterwards). The Hall often allows earlier access, so while I was rigging the lights, I heard the disco next door soundcheck. I replied shorty afterwards with the same tracks. ;) :D Sadly I hadn't enough time to have a nosey at the team next door, so contented myself with pushing the sliders up. ;) Willy Waving? Surely not. :D :D
Two hours in and a chap comes up and says hello. Not a punter, but next door's DJ! Can he rent a pair of cabs, as his have died. :( We unplug my tops, as I've got the big full range cabs as subs, and carry them next door. Now how can I put this tactfully? Suffice to say, I don't think he's a member on here, if you get my drift. ;) ;) The stage looks like a speaker repair mans nightmare. I saw Carlsbro, Wharfedale, and something else. Heaven knows what he was driving them with, so we plug my C*****-*'s in, and voila, we have noise. :D :D :D Huge cheer, and back I go, to rousing applause. Midnight arrives, and I know he'll be packing next door, as that's cast in stone. Turns out he's actually ended early, due to cropwd trouble, so 12.15 sees him struggling in with my cabs. :D :D Quick chat, and he gives me £20. :D :D :D I plug 'em in, and they're fine.
Just another episode in the life of a DJ who is thankful to be the giver of help, not the recipient. ;) ;)
