Good evening all.
Hope you are all well and beating the credit crunch.

I have been part time DJing for about 11 years. I started off at a cabaret club on a Saturday night, that was great fun. It really didn't feel like work as I enjoyed it and all my family and friends also attended.

While working I started to pick up lots of work on Friday's and Sunday's. Although the club was good, I felt like I wanted to progress it more but the people in charge wanted to stay the same. I asked for more money as I did not have a pay increase for 3 years, they said no so after 5 years I left. They then paid another DJ 50 quid more which I would have accepted nicely. Within 6 months it closed apart from the occasional private cabaret party which I help organise.

Upto 5 years ago, I worked every Thurs, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have never advertised, all my work came from word or mouth. I did a couple of New Years Eve for an agent. Both years he was a git, so I decided not to work for him again.

5 years ago I started a family, so packed in the every weekend and only worked 2 nights a week. Always leaving Fri/Sat free. In the last 12 months I have changed jobs and now work away from home 3 nights a week, so now I only work 1 night a weekend and always leave 1 weekend free every month.

I really enjoy being out with people who are up for a good night. The setting up and taking down are the bits I don't like. I always keep my prices reasonable, in other words, if the wife is happy with it, so am I.

That is me, any questions are anything at all. Let me know.

:D  :D
