I know there are quite a few brands out there but are there any I should have a close look at? :)

5 Star, Road Ready, Swanflight and Odyssey are probably the best built.

What kind of CD decks? Singles such as CDJ or 19 inch rack mount?
Usuall cases as what I was thinking off. Heard of Odyssey but would need to check more in to them all really. Compare prices. :)

Just thought id ask as theres thousands of sizes :) have no experience with transporting the 3500 (used one tho and i like them :) )
What i will say that Swan (as far as the CDJs are concerned (and im assuming it will be similar with the Denon) didnt give any thought as to the platter with their cases. The lid pressed straight down onto the platter which kncackered the pressure switch underneath. Road Ready fixed this problem by having a larger case, with foam pillars (? - best way to put it) that held the player in place without putting any pressure whatsoever on the platter.

I made my own for a few pounds.
I had some spare plywood, 2 by2 and screws after building a speaker cabinet.
I gave it quite a large top so I can sit a CD case on it.
I angled the front at 45 degrees for easy viewing of the CD display.

Quality, design, functionality, look, ruggedness
I'm sure I could think of a few more reasons why I would choose to keep my gear in something made for the job by a professional case maker.

Would your home made case guarantee to protect my £700 cd player if i dropped it. I wouldnt take the chance personally. (PS, i have dropped said player down a fire escape, crapped my pants in the process, then found god and thanked Road Ready when it was perfectly fine.

At the end of the day it is just a wooden box with a some corners on it made for a mixer, cd player and controller.
I dont see why mine would fair any worse than a pro made one, it is extremely sturdy.

I still dont agree a pro case would be any better.......

The cd player cases I have seen are just glued.
Mine are glued, braced and screwed !
Which one is gonna break first ?

Your case cost £700 quid? Or even £500 (ish) in the case of the Denon DN-3500. I wouldnt take the chance. Maybe if you have cheapesh:Censored: cd player but not anything worth any serious money.

I wouldnt spend/risk that much money on a cd player.
Its a risk carrying it around and does Denon warranty something that gets dropped ?
I have a Numark one that works very well and a dual cd ghetto blaster for backup. As yet never had to go backup.
These would be the tools of my trade so I would spend good money to make sure that the items are in a safe and secure position.

On the contrary, I havent got around to building my own car yet, although I used to rebuild damaged and classic cars.

I bought a flightcase from this company late December Tom for my Xponent and I've heard nothing from them yet. They don't answer the phone or thier emails. They were quick to take the money though, so I hope your more fortunate with your dealings with them than I have been. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier mate but good luck.

Thanks for that. Will check up on that though. I wont buy from DJ Kit now as they have bad after sales help but hey, I had bad dealing with them where others have been ok.

I have had to reclaim my money via my credit card company from them as they took £250 from me in November and will not answer their phones or e-mails.
I am not the only one, there is at least one other member on here claiming back via their bank.
I recently bought the odyssey case, lovely quality but found it too heavy for a girly :p so have sold it and replaced with Swan cases and a uberstand.

Just had another look and get in the mix sell all three cases for around the £200 mark also. I have bought from them before so might go back to them. :)

Still going with seperate cases then, Tom? As much as it is a pain to carry about, a full size coffin case will save you a lot of time setting up and packing down (all wired and ready to go inside). Just something to re-consider before purchasing :)

I don't think I will have enough room in the car to lay that down. If it was seperate cases then I can stack them up, which would take up less space.
This leave more room to pack more gear. :)
I will check it out though. I like the idea of having cables pre-wired, but I use my Focus hatchback to move around so space is precious. :)

I have got the prices Tom, but am trying to work in a deal that would involve you getting trade prices and me getting your HD2500. PM me what you'd be looking for, for the HD and I can work that into a price for you.

Ok, just went out and had a measure.
It will fit in sideways with the seats down but then I have the trouble of fitting in the sub if I need to take that.
At the moment I can fit in 1 sub, my current rack box, 2 speakers, speaker stands, deck stand, 4 moving heads, impossibled, 2 par cans, bag of cables, clothes, roadie.
Also, all lights are in the original boxes aswell. lol. Just looking at prixes for soft cases.

How about on its side so its upright. That should be ok as long as the chosen case doesnt put pressure on the top of the cd players.

It would be soft cases for all my lights. Light like par cans, moving heads, dot lights (lol), scanners. Was going to go for Arriba cases. :)

Seen the cases before at dj shows and had a good chat with them also. Most of the cases are made the for American DJ Lights but can also fit other lights also. Good quality bags, which is rather cheap really. lol.
I remember Darren buying a few cases for his par cans. I think they were £15 per case for 2 cans. Not bad at all. :D
Just bought the decks. All done and dusted. :D. I think I will go for the coffin. It just fits in over the back seats on its side so thats good, plus it leave loads and loads of room for other stuff also. lol.
Also, is the sub going to affect the cd players at all? My external hard drive seems ok but just need to check.
The new subs will be a lot smaller but I know the magnets are rather big and if they are going to be pushed up against the coffin, I don't want them to damage the cd decks. :(
