It had to happen to me .

My first wedding on Saturday has been cancelled , reason is the happy couple have split up :eek:
I had a phone call at 8:15 tonight , the grooms mother only heard an hour before.
Thank`s to my T&C and a booking fee all is not lost , the mother had also paid for the hotel,cake,catering etc, thats an expensive non event..

Oh well I still have the wedding fair on Sunday.

Sounds a little suspicious, to split up so close to the date - could it just be last minute worries ???

Certainly couples sometimes do not go ahead with weddings but for it to happen so close to the wedding sounds strange.

Does you T&C cover you for full payment ?

As I am in Chichester on Saturday , I`ll have a peek in the hotel where the wedding reception was due to take place.
My T&C only cover me for the 25% booking fee. I`ll need to amend this for future use.

Id say go for the whole ammoun if cancelled within 7 days pal. Very little chance of getting a fresh enquiry within that time frame.

Late last year, I had a wedding for April cancelled for the same reason.

Due to the long notice, the full amount was not due, although the bride DID ask if she could have her deposit back!

I politely drew her attention to the appropriate term/condition which she had signed for, and needless to say she never came back to me again.

If it's not already in his terms, it should be.

My own terms state the full amount is due if cancelled within a month of the function date, but this has not yet happened...although I hope it does, as it will be nice to be paid for sitting at home watching television (by someone I've never met!!!).
