Just two weeks to go

Well, almost there. Saturday 28th. I have a 50th birthday. It might be an awkward one. The birthday girl is into sixties which isn't a problem but her husband is into early bluegrass i.e. Earnest Tubb, Bill Munroe. Had a listen on 7 digital but I'm not impressed with the stuff. I'm sort of thinking, play some early on in the night and then just stick to the usual party stuff as the night wears on and the drink starts flowing.
Does anyone have any suggestions on bluegrass (apart from don't play it:D )

So far I have the Behringer BCD3000 with Traktor 3.3LE. A pair of Prosund scanners and an ageing Kam Manderin Dragon (bloody heavy:eek: ). I'm thinking now of buying the LED Boogie and using this instead of the Kam.
Got the speaker stands last week and the t bar stand arrived yesterday.

With regard to the t bar. Would I be right in thinking that clamps would be a better choice and easier to use than the supplied nuts & bolts. Also, would you attach your lights to the bar before putting it on the stand. Or fit the lights after placeing the bar on the stand. I find the latter very awkward with the nuts and bolts.

I bought a pair of Class D 250w speakers on the 4th January on ebay These ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=110312310049 These were to come directly from Class D. Apparently there was difficulty in getting these speakers. Then Class D informed the shop owner that I should have received these last week I received a message yesterday from the shop owner to say he had found out that Class D hadn't kept their word. So now he is going to send me a pair of 350w (Class D) speakers that he has in stock, at no extra cost.:approve:
I seem to remember someone else on here had trouble getting speakers from Class D
Sorry this post is a bit long. Just one final question. When useing the laptops touch pad I get a crackling noise comeing through the Behringer. Will a ground loop isolator eliminate this? For some reason it also happens when a track is loading into Traktor.
Just get my business cards resized and off to the printers and that should be it then.

DJGordyp, yes to clamps absolutely. Bolts, no way.
As for delivery on certain Class-D cabs, we've said before it appears to be a nightmare at the moment. Somebody got some AC Euro, which appeared toi be Class-D with upgraded drivers. Somebody else found a supplier with Class-D cabs in stock.

Thank you Steve. That might just do the trick. The first name that came into my head when I heard the start of this was Kentucky Headhunters but they might be even less bluegrass. But as I said, as the night wears on......:D
I'm off to youtube now see what else I can find. I wonder would Zydeco fit into that style?

Mind you I used to think Mr Blobby was brilliant :eek: especially after a few :beer1: :beer1: Which reminds me, I meant to download the Saw doctors 'I useta love her'. I also need a decent version of Happy Birthday, about 20-30 seconds long. Most of what I've found on 7 digital and Amazon downloads, are either too long or geared towards children.

Well I finally got my speakers last week. They came direct from the shop. They claim they are 350w but there is no markings that I can see other than the class d badge on the front.

After spending much of yesterday driving about (long story but it involves a 25 year old girl I consider to be a spoilt brat (never even got an apology)), I finally got a chance to set them up in the kitchen. Not an ideal situation in the middle of a housing estate as you can't get a chance to push them.

I have to say that for what I paid for them the sound quality is pretty darn good. In the past I used to use Eric Claptons Wonderful Tonight as a reference point and when I put that on it sounded every bit as good as what I remember getting from the Peaveys.

Next week I'll set up the sound and lights together.

Well, I'm almost there so to speak. Plan to be at the venue around seven to give me plenty of time to see how long it takes to set everything up.

Ran into a bit of a snag earlier The piece of the mirror that was cracked in one of my scanners broke off last night. Got that fixed up with tape. The bulb in the other scanner stopped working last night. I went and bought a couple of bulbs this morning. I went to rerplace the bulb only to find that the holder which was only new a few weeks ago had cracked right across the middle. I stuck it back together with superglue but I don't think I could chance using it. Even though it's only a 150w bulb I doubt if superglue would stick the heat to well. Looks like I'll have to make do with the manderin dragon and led boogie,

Both scanners giving me trouble on the one night. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
