Confidence + DJ Only vs. Pro Disc

Hi guys,

Apologies if this is posted before, I seem to be having trouble submitting posts.

I have only just got back into discos after about 2 years away due to family/personal reasons. I lost all my confidence after a family bereavement and have found it very hard to get it back. I did a freebie disco for a family member a couple of weeks ago and seemed to go really well, so decided to get back into it.
Has anyone else ever suffered lack of confidence? How did you deal with it?

I used to buy DJ Only religiously each month, and have seen a post about Pro Disc. What do you guys use, which do you prefer?
Or do you go online and buy each song individually when they come out?

Any help would be very welcome in helping get my confidence back!

I use Pro-Disc, im on a few mailing lists as well and anything else is off the net.

I'm sorry to her about your problem dude.

I find that if your nervous or lack confident the best way of dealing with it is just to get on with it and jump in the deep end. When i see everyone enjoying themselves and having a good time by worries disappear and i start to relax and enjoy myself.

As for the CD's from December i have started buying the DJ Only CD's. I think they are a bit hit and miss sometimes. Will probably keep buying for another few months as a trial.

I tend to like shops, hmv and zavvi ect. how ever i have been known to go on an online CD shopping spree.

As regards to confidence i can think of no better way of building it up than getting back into djing! Despite the odd bad apples this forum is full of helpful people who will point you in the right direction should you be unsure about anything.

When Istarted DJing someone showed me how to run the decks and then left me to get on with it.
It was a bit nerve racking at first but after half an hour I was chatting on the mic and cueing records no problem.

To get back into it you probably need a couple of easy gigs with no hassle.
Whining clients or problems can knock the confidence back out of you.

I use DJ Only cd's from DMC as well as a few others from what they sell. Most of time they are quite good but over the course of a few months you end up having the same track 3 or 4 times but as remixes. Don't know if you get this on other companys like cd pool for example???

Quite handy in some cases but it's just filling up disc space.

Would be nice if these companys can get the music out to us earlier.

I work as a carer part time and so help people getting back into normal life.
Thats all about confidence.

The simple answer is yes, Zavvi went into administration an month or two ago and with the funding and new managment, are slowly finding there feet, also due to alot of support by the great brtish public :)

Although I'm not on any DJ disc subscriptions yet, I have DJ Only, ProDisc and CD Pool in my collection. Recently, it been CD Pool more than the others though (more the Radio edition than the Dance but I a mix of both).

i used to get promo only a few years back but there was a lot of fillers on the cds
