Whats this system like? After having my heart set on a dB Tech Fortyline, im told that it is now discontinued and ive been offered this instead.

Ive had bad experience with RCF but if theve gotten better then ok. What do you lot think? Be sepecially nice to hear off those running it.

I'm not runing this personally, but RCF are extremely good, and do sound awesome.

Darren and TwinSpin both use RCF rigs and can confrim how good it is.

I would go for this over the DB any day, as the system you'd looked at was too & bulky, and not too good on the SPLs compared to this RCF system.

I was actually the one, sorting out an alternative for you LoL

As mentioned, I use RCF, but I use the 15" tops (325as) as I use them on their own a lot.

One sub is enough, but two sounds more balanced.

I like it. Many others heard it at my party and others have used the tops too. I'm sure their opinions will be here soon...

I can't speak for the actives but a venue I play regularly has Passives fitted (4 15" tops and 4 subs). The sound is absolutely fantastic, especially out of the subs. I must admit it is overkill (especially the subs) but have ran it using 2 tops and 2 subs before and the sound was still good.

RCF are very good I use the 322A cabs with the same subs i originally had the 312A tops and they are good.

They run extremely cool even when cranked up and they sound very good. Powerful with the ART 705 bins too.

Why did you get shot of the 312 tops John?

Anyone know the dimentions (HxWxD) of the bass bins. cant find it anywhere.

Daz (and everyone else :) ), would you recommend using the tops on their own occasionally.

I use my tops on their own quite a lot. I have the 325 which is a 15" speaker though.

I didnt get shut of them because they were rubbish. Far from i will say... my roadie damaged them by dropping them down a hard staircase.

and i was offered a good deal on the 322A's so i bought a pair of those.

The 312a on the other hand are still good speakers and will serve you well.

the DB fortyline has only just been discontinued

this gives you a great opportunity to get a cheap pair brand new IMO

ring around a few dealers, its also quite likely that DB will have some stock left that they are stuck with!

Tried that, it seems all the stockist i rang, wernt exactly stockists (so to speak) as it wasnt a system they could guarantee to shift on a regular basis so they were gotten from dB as and when a order came in.:bang:

A few even rang back after speaking to dB and said that dB wouldnt/couldnt supply....

Ive been told very good things about the RCF so i dont think it will be too bad. Apparantly ill get a nicer sound with the RCF's :)

The RCF Art is one of the Best ranges of speakers ever made!

I know a couple a people with them, and the wattages are always higher than you would expect from the certain cab in question.

RCF have managed to cram 750 watts in a 15"

-----------------------------------------------------

GO FOR IT !!! :)

In fact its 500 watts rms for the LF driver and 250 watts rms for the HF driver for most of the 750 watts cabs and higher.

I would rather use a 60 watt rms hf driver that can pump out 131db spl. Rather that than a 250 watt rms hf driver that gets around the same spl. lol.

Im very happy with mine and i cant see myself changing them tbh. If i do ever upgrade it will be a higher RCF model like the 7 Series. Ive been out and heard those and they sound absolutely fantastic even better than the 3 series which sound very good.

My next upgrade is an extra 2 705s bass bins, for the really big sound :D

Nice one steve. Should be more powerful than that fortyline at 3200w rms

the RCF system with 4 bins will give you 3900w RMS

Yeah, quality eh :D

Which would only be at 50 to 75hz at a guess, not 40hz up to 120hz. :sofa:

The crossover frequency is assignable so have the lower bass bins for the low bass, and the middle bins for the, erm...mid :) Apparantly it works very well.
