Stand or table for quiz nights

At the moment, when I do a quiz night, I normally ask for a small table to use for laptop, mixer and paperwork and use an old curtain to conceal any cables and wires, but I'd really like to get something made for the job, like a small deckstand, but something I can sit at, like a desk.

Any ideas?

Any good with a welder? If you are, get the micro deckstand and cut out the lower horizontal on one side, then strengthen with additional inch plat bar supports. That way you can get your legs under. Ill have a gander round the net to see if i can find anything manufactured.

I use a Micromax stand for quiz nights and race nights. (obviously without overhead bar) and have a laptop shelf clamped on the side.

I like the idea of the mini deckstand. Would look really good with a plain black cloth. :)

on my goal posts you have four bars that connect the left side panel with the right. two on the top to rest the decks and mixer on and one about knee height that you can rest an amp on. Could you not just connect up the two bars on top and just one at the front of the deckstar leaving you with plenty of leg room? tho no place to put an amp?

why not use a little camping type table, their easly folded away.

I had a quick look on the Ikea website for computer desks etc but not sure if there's anything suitable on there for you but it may be worth a look yourself.

as for deckstars idea of the goalpost, i agree with it, it wont be half the bars, you only take one of the four bars off (to get your legs in). You still have the top 2 bars for the worktop and the 3rd bar at the front (customer side)

You could then get a nice cloth made up or even put a starcloth on the front of it. Using a Prolight One (the only one i have experience of) you could even use one of the vertical side poles and G Clamp a couple of lightweight lights or spotlights (led cans?)

The only problem with that I can see is that I will be sitting down and won't be able to see over the stand!

Actually, at the moment, the top picture isn't that much far different from what I'm using!

What about using a high stool or something.

If I remember, there I was a thread about people standing up or sitting down while djing, giving the perception that a sitting down dj is a lazy one, but people said they have reasons to be sitting down and did not affect how they performed.

I think someone said that they use some king oh high stool. It looks like they are standing up but in fact they are sitting down, with a back rest also.

That thread was about discos, but this one is about quiz nights, which I think are completely different...as it's a totally different environment.

Although I stand when doing a mobile disco, I always sit when doing a quiz night...and don't think it looks lazy at all. After all, everyone ELSE is sitting down too. I also want to be on the same level as everyone else, rather than above them.

I would of thought that this would be a good. Most venues when djing have a stage, which makes you higher up and the focal point of the evening. Same as quiz nights. You need to be incharge so you sit up high so people know where you are ect. :)

I've been looking at a website that sells tables, but there are loads of them and it's difficult to know which one to get. I am also looking at clip on table skirts too, so if anyone has links for those, let me know.

To be honest, I don't think there would be too much call for a specially designed quiz table.

Most quizzes seem to be run in pubs, which have plenty of tables available.

If someone DOES want a certain size, type etc etc, it's probabaly best to make their own (Oh no...I'm turning into another Nigel!).
