Nice Compact Ampilifer

ive been looking at one of these ampilifers for a while now, since its half price am thinking of buying one, does anyone know what the realiably of this ampilifer is like and has anyone experianced one ect ect, cheers damian

Its an excellent little amp. Very compact, lightweight, and with a USB input too, can be used very easily with PCs without having to bother with an audio interface.

It has no fan cooling though, so I wouldn't suggest pushing it to its max for several hours at a time.

Would make a great back up amp could be left hidden in car / van as it's small, looks easy to just grab & plug in in an emergency.

The weight is a great selling point. However as its only 300 watts rms at 8ohms its a shame its no good for me. Shame would have loved to leave my amp rack nd take 2 of these.

Looks like a good little amp.

All digital amps like the mackie v2 speakers so there should very little heat compared to another type of amp.

For size, its not bad.Plus you can also use it in bridge mode. So if you main amp dies for running your subs, at least you got a an amp to fill in the gap. :)

Surprising, as Vestax are a high end manufacture, and always have been. All their mixers, turnatbles and tabletop CD players are top notch!

i also had the same opinion on vestax adam

ive always ranked vestax one of the best just like denon and pioneer, to be honest i think their all joint 1st.

I think Vestax is like Marmite.

I love the turtables, but not their cd players. Its just preference, you cant fault their build quality though.

It was in about '96, very flimsy and temperamental, two plastic pods covering the spining cd's, anyone walking within 100 yards and it would skip, the memories make me shudder even now :eek: :mad:

i find vestax to be a mixed bag too, the only problem ive discovered is that they just dont tend to be very good at service or support, so whilst the products are reliable and quality if/when they go wrong, the support is very poor

how long has this been out? id give it 6 months before buying one if they are new, because as this is a new thing for Vestax, let someone else pay for the mistakes etc and wait for the mark II model

They've been out around 2 years now.

No signs of a MK II, as they don't so speakers or amplifiers any more. Just play out devices and mixers etc...

I personally wouldn't run a whole disco off one amp that runs at 500 watts per channel @ 4 ohms.
Perhaps as monitors.

I guess it depends on what you mean by several hours;)

I've run both single and bi-amp systems at over 80% for over 4 hours on a number of occasions, although not often, more like 2-3hrs flat out, the rest for background levels.
I take what you're saying though. And I have to be honest, I've never liked Vestax, since some of the garbage they made in the early 90's:D
If it wasn't Vestax:D and were cheaper, it would be a belter as a back up and for smaller gigs or summer fete type jobs, due to it's small size:approve: IMHO that is:D

For around 15yrs I've often run my 'whole' (???) disco off 1 amp at 500wrms per channel @ 4 ohms:eek::eek:
Where it's not going to be enough (18ths/bigger venues etc) I add a set of bass cabs running of a 400wrms @ 4 ohms (although the cabs are actually 8)
Guess I must be doing something right:D:D:D

Sorry Adam, I'm not really trying to have a go at you or HTFR with either of my posts, but with so many websites (eBay too!) claiming utter b0ll0cks about stuff that's fit for nothing, I've gotten to be quite sceptical in my old age:p
