On Friday I am running the PTA quiz at school again this year and, knowing there are a number of quiz gurus on here, I wondered if someone may be able to help as the colleague I was supposed to be running this with is now in hospital, leaving me with another three rounds to prepare!

It is held in a large school hall so I usually have some form of picture round projected into a screen. A few years ago I did an observation round using the London Olympic Bid official video, and this round was very popular so I was thinking about having a similar round this year.

Have any of our regular quiz masters ever run a round like this and if so please could you recommend a suitable 4-5 minute excerpt I could use? I've started going though my DVD collection but I am struggling to find something with enough going on in it in the limited time I have left. I notice the new Krypton Factor has been doing this with soaps but I have no way of getting this onto my computer.

I saw something similar while on holiday in Puerto Rico, the quizmaster showed some famous brands of advertising which was partly obscured. You could try copying some logo's etc and use ms paint to obscure some of it, or there maybe some already done on the net.

I've done this using Only Fools and horses. There's no real tips and it just takes a long time to find the right bit of film and think of the questions.

Thanks for the replies. Having now trawled through far too many ideas I have now changed my mind as to what I am going to do. I discovered today that the school has software to rip DVDs (for educational purposes only!) and the Head has allowed me to use it - I am intending to create a montage of film clips and then ask questions.

You could rip off Radio 1s idea too and mashup a load of tracks and get them to pick out the correct songs.

I'm sorted for a music round - that's the easiest of the lot. This year it is bluegrass cover versions of famous tracks.
