I'm coming to your part of the world next weekend and staying in a cottage in Brook.

Are there any decent places to go/drink/eat/party etc?

Yay!

Brook? That's out in the middle of nowhere! Good if you want a quiet relaxing break but not if you're looking for nightlife. There's about 1 bus a day and taxi's won't go out that far without charging you a fortune, so you'll need to drive everywhere hence not much partying :o

Best "local"-ish scoffing place must be The Crown at Shorwell http://www.crowninnshorwell.co.uk/index.asp but I'd avoid the somewhat-closer Countryman at Limerstone - yuk.

Yarmouth is full of nice eateries and a few good pubs, and a little further north there's a superb pub famed for its seafood in a little village called Shalfleet but you need to book. Well worth venturing out to, probably about 5 miles from Brook.

At this time of year there's not a lot going on in Newport other than the usual chains such as Chicago Rock - yawn. Stick to the small villages and you'll enjoy it more.

You should try the lake district instead, much better scenery.

Done that about 4 years ago, was in the middle of nowhere which was lovely, but the drive was a killer.

I used to live 5 miles from Ullswater and spent many an afternoon motorbiking around the lakes and fells.
There is an amazing motorbike ride through Little Langdale and over into Eskdale. The mountain passes are stunning.

Just want to say a big thank you to Vectisvibe for his recommendation of pub/restaurant.

We went to the Crown Inn in Shorwell and it was a really lovely meal. The perfect end to the day after 3 hours of travelling to get there!

Do you know this to be fact, or is it a made up by you potentially libelous statement?

You get abuse because you leave yourself wide open for it. You don't take our industry seriously and quite frankly the way you portray yourself is a joke.

In my opinion you are everything that our industry shouldn't be and needs to leave behind

If you would like your details removed, I suggest you send an email to [email protected]
