No. Every gig and day's unique. ;)

All depends on where the gig is.
If it`s local , I`ll load the Landy up in the morning, to give me plenty of time to get other things done before setting out.

Apart from sitting in the morning and checking 'important' songs ie first dance are definitely ok, and backing up on a memory stick (which is a backup which stays at home ;) ) I don't really have a routine now.

Must admit though I am a stickler for packing the van methodically but generally only takes 5-20 mins.

Depends on the gig.

If it's just an evening do, then it's a normal day until about 4pm when I start to think about what needs specially prepping, have I got a shirt ironed, that kind of thing :)

If it's an all-dayer, I tend to lie in and have a chill-out morning in the garden or something like that until it's time to get my head together.

I always have special songs etc. prepped well in advance - usually as soon as I get the booking form back or immediately after the customer meeting.

this isnt a dig, but theres been a lot of talk in the past of "making sure you have everything"

if this is the case what do you do with your gear when not in use that might mean "you dont have everything"?

Do you store it in different locations or take it all out of boxes?

Perhaps he has different gear for different venues. I know I do. I also quite often use a load list too.

Excuse me, my beligerent former friend! I was trying ( unsuccessfully obviously ) to convey the point that since no two gig days start alike, there can be no set routine for the day, and thus the gig which follows. Next time, I'll use diagrams. :bang: :bang: :D :D

Absolutely. If two particular venues follow each other, then I virtually have to change all the gear in the van. ;)

Pre gig routine?

Pretty much the "check everything is in order and loaded up then something to eat, the three S's, get ready and off to the venue" routine.

Works for me!

Usually. Spend time getting any last minute requests on the day running up to the gig and watching Hull City on the live stream online.

7:00pm start. (load up at 4:30pm) leave home at 5:00pm for the venue to get there for 5:30pm (half hour load in) 1 hour setup.

7:30pm start (load up at 5:00pm) leave home at 5:30pm to get to venue for 6:00pm. (half hour load in) 1 hour setup.

these times are based on functions in Hull.

if the gig is out of Hull we leave at half past 4.

I try to eat a few hours before I'm ready to leave.

I check and pack all gear at least 24 hours before the gig so I know it's done and there is no rush on the day of the gig when looking for cables for example.

Pack the car and make sure I have a 15 minute window to check I have packed everything before having a drink before setting off.

Lie in (just like every other morning!).

Lunch around noon to 1pm. No drink after lunch until I've set up the disco. That way, I've found I can drink water throughout the gig & won't usually need to loo until after I finish.

Load up van around 2pm to 3pm.

Relax for a few hours by watching tv or coming on the forum until I have to leave for the gig, which is usually between about 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

I will take a Saturday for example. Up at around 9.30, (I normally stay at Granddads if I'm not working on the Friday. I like to spend as much time with him as I can.) I will then be at drama for 10.30am. Two hours of drama workshop, and I then normally meet friends in town for lunch at around 1.00pm. Spend the day trailing the coffee shops and hotels, sitting, chatting and having a drink (sad life we live) I will then go back to dad's for 4.30/5. Shower, change, load the car and leave for 6.30 to be setup for 8. :) I love it :D
