Morning all,

I just want to say that this thread is in NO WAY a gloat ok. I just want to see what some of you lot think. I have my own thoughts on it but will see what the comments are like before I tell you.

When I first went self employed, I bought decent gear for my main rig and then cheaper stuff for back up (all gone now) for another 2 rigs. It became clear after a while that the gear was sitting there doing nothing so I got a small rig togeather and put it up for sale. A guy I know locally wanted to buy it so we came up with a deal and all was well. He was mainly doing pub gigs, small live pub gigs etc and the odd private party here and there.

The rig was 2 x Flightcased Pioneer CDJ500 MKII Ltd edition CD players, 1 x Behringer DJX700 Mixer, 2 x Gemini GX450 Active Speakers, 1 x 6ft Giraffe Stand with goalposts etc and 4 x Twister II's with leads, extensions etc.

Now, I am definitely NO grass. Never have been, never will be but I have to say that it's people like him that really rile me. He does not have PAT or PLI but the worst thing above all that is that ALL of his CD's are copied. 100% of them are compilations that he has created himself via torrent downloads. All of his work is done cash in the hand and he doesn't invoice anyone. He works full time aswell.

Anyway, over the past month he has got himself a residency out of town and started to do Alternative nights and live gigs at the venue. He has been using his CDJ's and Mixer through their sound system.

He texted me last night to say his gear has been nicked and he is on the warpath. Now, I don't wish this on anyone. Thieving gits make me sick in general but in a wierd kind of a way, I almost have no sympathy for him.

A bit of background for you - This is a venue out of town and is no threat to me at all. The venue was more known for it's House and Drum n Bass nights but also for trouble. A whole new schedule has upset people in my opinion and after talking to him via facebook last night, I think it's an inside job. No money was taken, no alarms went off apparently and it was just the mixer and CDJ's that went. I reckon it's either another DJ or someone else there.

What do you think? Do you think that it's payback? He was definitely not legit and has said that the venue have told him that their insurance will cover it. I'm not so sure myself.

Anyway, I said I would put something on here so if anyone gets offered a Behringer DJX700 Mixer and 2 Kamkaze Flightcased Pioneer CDJ500 MKII Cd players in the Berkshire area, let us know.

Cheers
G

Couldn't agree more, Martin. In my book, if a trader is knowingly breaking the law, they should be reported and face the consequences... thus levelling the playing field for bonafide traders and raising standards within the industry.

Well guys, that's my exact thoughts too.
The thing is, I have just remembered that it wasn't him that actually bought the equipment off me either. It was a mutual friend who bought it and then gave it to him as he owed him a few favours.

It wasn't just the PLI & PAT that did my head in, it was more the illegal downloads etc. He would even brag that about the fact that he could get whatever he wanted via torrent sites and also that he was trying to get into my regular venue too (He got a big fat No No from the owner). In the end he has had to go out of town and this is what has happened.

Yes, it may sound nasty but to be honest (more background on him), he is 31, lives at home with his mum, has everything done for him and works full time. He smashed his car up and then the next day he had a new one courtesy of his mum. He claims to be a promoter yet everything he has tried to promote hasn't worked and he can't promote anything in the town as no'one will touch him. I would love to say to him "Serves you right" but I would hate it if someone said that to me as he is gutted right now....and I am NOT sticking up for him in the slightest.

Well on that basis, mummy should be online at Thomann right now! :o
