in all fairness....... without you saying how many discs you have or what condition they are in its going to be very hard to give a ball park figure. I guess in this case it is worth what someone will pay for it.

The quick answer is that they are worth a hell of lot less than when they were first bought.

My karaoke collection is huge with a lot of hard to find discs imported (I used to get the Sweet Georgia Brown (SGB) discs imported as well as the Pioneer ones that weren't released here). I've got the complete set of SF and SFMW, EK and LEG. I've got a fair few MRE and MRH. And about another 700 from other companies and custom-made ones. If I were to sell them (which I won't so no offers please!) I'd expect to get back about 5% of what I paid for them. A quick calculation would suggest I've spent around £20,000 over the years on karaoke media and I think I'd do well to get £1000 back. In fact, that would be optimistic! :(

I would check these are legal in all fairness if hes been kicked out of his council house.................

Plus shouldnt these been retained by the council and sold off to cover rent etc....?

Or given back to the legal owners who might have forgotten them.

However, you need to look at it as tools required to do the job - an expense if you like. Any detained value is a bonus. In saying that, you'd expect a considerable amount back from £12000!!

Yeah, I thought they would be sent off to a auction or returned to the owners?

Did Laser discs really cost over £80 each back in the 90's?

for a full karaoke set of discs Id say at least a grand at least if they are original sunfly and in excellent condition.

The sunfly discs are round about a tenner each new. If each disc was sold at £5.00 each 400 discs would be 2 grand.

to be on the safe side. I would say around £1000 (£2.50 each disc)

for a full karaoke set of discs Id say at least £500-£600 considering the discs are original and not (copied)

Yes, i would reckon that too.

That's fair enough. Which is why Mr HMRC lets you write off a slab of their purchase cost under expenses rules.
