I have brought headphones off ebay which were from china but saved me about 70% off the price (Song MDV700's) and all fairness were good for the price. This site however is based in uk so something going on....

The £40 ones will be fake, and the £80 will probably be fake, the internet is awash with this sort of con. If you want real ones, go to an authorised dealer and negotiate a discount. Too good to be true usually is!

Don't want to ask a stupid question, but why on earth would you pay more than £15 for a set of headphones? Is their some crucial element that I'm missing?

I use mine for checking that a record is cued correctly, and can do that on the cheapest possible ones from Woolies, Wilko's Currys or wherever (well, perhaps not Woolies anymore...). Am I missing something, or is this just DJ's having to buy the most expensive gear?

I've always gone for the HD25's, sound is bright and punchy which is perfect for mixing.

The first 2 pairs I had were from Brithish Airways Concorde, they used to give them away on the flights, I knew someone who used to get them and sold them on.....just had to scratch the BA logo off!

I use the Sennheiser HD205 headphones, got them from djstore for about £35, basically to up my order to over £100 to get free delivery (I needed some anyway).

As I mainly use them for cueing and checking songs, they're good enough for me. They sound pretty good but probably not good enough for club DJ's.

These new Pioneer HDJ-1000's are supposed to be fantastic (if it's the ones I think they are, they're reviewed in this months pro mobile magazine) but I personally cannot justify that kind of cash on headphones for the limited amount I use them. :)

BTW, I reckon both are a bit suspect, buy with caution!

These guys are NOT authorised Pioneer dealers, and as others have said, they won't be genuine!
The amount of people who come into us, wanting us to write letters confirming their "too good to be true" bargain headphones are indeed fake is unreal.

It's a nightmare getting stock of the HDJ 1000s at the moment :bang: Not sure on exact dates, but they're due soon.

They are slightly better than the AKGs, but they're also a £50ish price difference too!

I've happily gone through 2 pairs of the AKG K 181's over the last few years (well broke one pair, then needed a pair just for 2 weeks until my HDJ 2000s were delivered, after one night of cheap headphones, I bought another pair of K 181s, so at least I've got a good pair of back-ups now)

The first link, just screams out as fakers. Vertu mobile phones for less than £400, these retail at around £12,000 onwards. All the images uses are stock images from the manufactures, not one has been took themselves, AND it's an E-shop made by "Free Web Stores" - Hardly a professional image.

The likes of Pioneer, Denon, Stanton, Kam, Prolight, American DJ etc.... all have UK bases who HTFR (and other retailers will deal with).
You simply cannot go to premium manufactures such as Pioneer/Denon/Stantons factories direct and walk out with a 1000 CDJ 1000s, 500 DNHD 2500s and 5000 RM 406s etc....

You can go direct to factories for OEM products, but as you have said, its containers full at a time, and a lead time of around 6 to 12 weeks or more to get them!

Perhaps a wild and crazy idea, why not go and listen to a pair of cheap headphones, then a decent pair.
Any one with any sense STRAIGHT away will tell a difference, and will know without a doubt they are not the same.

In fact, if your at a show that I'm at next time, bring your headphones, and I'll bring my HDJ 2000s.
I can bend the headband and straighten in out fully without them even wincing because they are made from quality components! You do that to yours, then I'll give you a £1 to replace them, as they will have snapped!

I use Sennheiser HD25 mk2's really happy with them, bit pricy but worth every penny. But I have to be honest and agree with Damian I was more excited about the birth of my daughter. LOL ! :D
