does anybody have an idea whether bnc - bnc video leads such as this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=219059
are the same as bnc - bnc audio leads (whether they make a lead for audio)
im not sure,
it originally came off a uhf radio aerial,
any ideas please.

Similar, but not the same.
BNC isn't used for audio normally, just video and RF.
Video cable/connectors are rated at 75ohm, RF at 50ohm usually.
You can mix and match, but obviously not ideal.

What are you wanting to do?

i've been asked to try and repair what basically looks like a bnc lead, with a bnc plug on one end a pl259 (as pictured) on the other, as he works at sea, his wife can listen into his radio chatter, on her scanner, but obviously a short stubby aerial is no good, she he's got a 4-5foot, aerial on the side of his house, and the cables been bodged to get it working, but has failed, so i was thinking bout using the two following components to get it to work,
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=219059
& to connect using this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1637
hey presto one lead, then heatshrink the joints to make water tight.

You want some proper coax, If you are connecting upto say a linear aerial, Maybe look at RG213, Is nice and thick so low loss, Wouldnt advise what your planning, A PL plug wont hold very tight on wafer thing coax
