View Full Version : Alright, alright, I'll admit it. I was wrong!

Due to pressures of time and such I have only just now screwed together the box , and wired up the components in the MK7 flightcases. As some of you may know, I've had a little problem with my beloved KAM1500 mixer, which resulted in me purchasing a Denon 500 from Beerfunk. It's short one mic channel for my taste, half the size, and not as flashy. :( :( If I'd designed the case round this, it would have been markedly different. :( :( Anyway, I plugged an amp and set of cabs in just now, and both cases, for a test run.
I cannot believe the difference! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: The Class D's have never sounded so good. :D The sound is crystal clear, with all tone controls set flat, it's bright and lively. I reckon in all honesty, the KAM has been sick for a long while, I just didn't have the money, impetus, or inclination to change it. ;) I've only used the Denon for five minutes, but if I can get to understand it, and alter a few cables to suit my setup, I think I will soon love it.
So when folk recommend Denon kit, it may not always be for reasons of having the right badge. ;)

yup, ive fall in love with tones dodgy denon and his mixer, when i get to cash, i,ll be going out to buy them...

At this moment in time, hard to believe, but as you have compared both, I cannot argue. :D
Well done on getting the Denon Peter,
I was the same as you when I went from my Behringer mixer to the Denon.

I know this is slightely off-topic (and I do apologise) but I have a Gemini CS-19 mixer and wondered if anyone has ever had this mixer, or can tell me what Gemini are like for sound quality ect?
With the kit I've got, the sound does sound good :)

Not sure it's off topic mate. :D I've had Gemini in the past, and I think Corabar Steve has a soft spot for your particular one. ;) I always wanted one of those. Not the worst, and probably not the best.

you got to love Denon mixers, they are so clean and crisp I have the DNX 400 and 100, they put me in mind of old Citronic.
The Kam vs. Denon reminds me of the upgrade I made from a single space DOD dual 15 band EQ to a Rane one that looked almost identical but the sound difference was like night and day!

Believe it or not it does sound quite good but then again, I've not had the funds to have a play around with more expensive kit like some of the Denon or others.
My particular one has the faders instead of the volume knobs:

They are a nice mixer. I will get round to getting mine fixed one day & it will be my back up. 5 channel too!

Alright there is that, but I used the one I got (admittedly for free) for 3 years without any problems & it was used for a daily for a year before that. The sound was pretty good even compared to my current Denon.

At the moment, me too. In the foreseeable future, I shall be finishing the rejig of the cases, so XLR's will be the preferred option. I note that the balanced output is higher than unbalanced, apparently.

I was very happy with the item, the price, and the seller. :D :D :D Thanks once again Callum, it was nice to meet you and your young lady, even if the circumstances were less than ideal. ;) :D
The mixer is unmarked, works a treat, and with a bit of tuition from Tom and probably Twinspin, I expect to be merely inept with it, instead of useless. :D
