New Audio system

Hi all,

Been busy over last few weeks and missed out much of the gossip on here.

But, besides been overworked and underpaid we need your thoughts as we are considering puchasing the following:

2x Intimidation Sin Bins with 12in
2x Initimidation Pi 12
2x Intimidiation Pi 15

These will be powered by American Audio 3x VLP1500 amplifers.

We have chosen to go without the crossover on the sinbins and purchase and 2 x behringer 3 way crossover (left & right).

What are you thoughts on this?

For £2200 - £2300 you can get get a Bose L1, 2 Bose B1's and a T1. I'm not going to get involved in pro Bose/ anti Bose debate there are plenty of threads on here plus you can visit the Bose dj forum to get some opinion there. I've done r & b nights, house, disco nights and they rock.

Reading through the Bose website about the system. I like the design, but I'm old skool when it comes to speaker design.

I fully understand on how the 24 percision speakers have been design to delivery max coverage. Bose are mainly promoting this as instrumental/vocal rig. I think for musicans and singers they are great portable system.

Looking at the business image on this, I think this would do more damage than good. In today's market you have convince new clients you are the right company for the job. Now the client 9 times out of 10 do not come from sound design/entertainment background.

If the client just saw the two speaker systems without hearing them, they will fall into the trap of bigger the better.

You could get some real good passive speakers with 2 grand. What about

Are you looking at 2 way or single passive stack system?

I don't know a lot about speakers but I do know that with 2 grand you could get yourself a decent system, a lot better then intimidation. I have the American audio but just the one. I run it alongside a Numark Dimension 3. They do a grand job but the build quality on the American audio isn't great. :)

You will never get two people to agree on the same setup and we probably have different set ups.

Getting back on track, the question is what is your thoughts on the setup (-minus what setup you have or think are the best)

Why buy 2 crossovers, if you buy the SUPER-X PRO CX3400 you will only need one (3 way stereo/4 way mono)
I think with your budget, you could get much better PA if you spent it carefully.

Your 2 grand will be better spent elsewhere.

Crossovers cost next to nothing (virtually free)

If you mean my setup. I use RCF but they are active. Audio Intimidation sorry to sound blunt but i dont think anything at all to them ive heard them. For 2 grand you can get a better system and run them off the amps your currently using.

Im not keen on Mackie personally but they do passive systems which are still better. have a look at Cerwin Vega and JBL as well and the passive stuff by HK Audio or even some Martin Audio gear on ebay secondhand.

Sorry mate i just think for the proposed budget you can do a lot better than Audio Intimidation just a bit of friendly advice.

People are telling you their thoughts on the setup, and you don't like the feedback your getting. The setup you have designed is a waste of time and money and could be spent a lot better elsewhere, for example on a different speaker brand. Why don't you let people suggest what they would buy for £2,000 and see what ideas come up then? :)

Saw them sinbins at DJ Show North.

Yes they are loud and cover a large are but that's only because they are a folded horn design.

Imo, they sound horrible. When they really pumped them up, they sound even worse. Don't forget they are only 12 inch drivers so don't expect a lot of bass from a few horns.

You will get a lot more bass from a 12 driver in a reflex cab.

I would look else where is it was me.

The reason why I wanted keep focus to the setup, this is because it will become a endless topic and could go off in to many directions. Hence not starting a topic called "Which PA system would you buy with £2k"

I think your comment about I do not like the feedback I'm getting, is not a justified comment you made. I have not once defended the setup listed since starting this topic.

Second hand equipment is not an option as we decided to purchase from new.

JBL JRX / SRX
FBT Verve.

dont rule out Cerwin Vega either of Passive Mackie

all passive cabs within price range or slightly over. All a lot better than Intimidation

The cabs you listed if thats the question, I wouldnt bother with them.
