I have to spread the word about this.
Since last Tuesday, I've been the proud owner of a couple of intellicig EVOlution eCigarettes.

For those of you that don't know what these are......

An eCigarette is a device also known as a Personal Vapouriser (PV), e-cig, or electronic cigarette.

Here's the "science" bit http://planetsmilies.net/vicious-smiley-1830.gif (http://planetsmilies.net) :

The device heats a liquid which can contain nicotine and flavourings. When heated, the liquid produces a vapour which is smoke-like in appearance, but which is actually only a water-based vapour.

The benefits are:
- No smoke, only vapour
- No passive smoking
- No tar
- No carbon monoxide
- Smell
- No carcinogens
- Legal to use in non-smoking areas (subject to manager’s permission)

They consist of 3 main components, a battery, a heater element (atomizer) & a cartridge

The battery powers the atomizer which in turn heats the liquid in the cartridge & causes the vapour when you take a drag

There are plenty of different makes & models & also a couple of forums for help & advice (anyone interested, feel free to PM me for details)

Since Thursday I've used it in several pubs & bars in the London area, without having to go outside (including my pub residency).
The reason for this is (the Law bithttp://planetsmilies.net/person-smiley-1128.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)):

The Law introduced in the United Kingdom in the Health Act 2006, banned the use of tobacco based cigarettes in public places.

The Act was introduced in response to where tobacco based cigarettes kills over 100,000 people each year in the UK, as lit tobacco produces tar, carcinogens, carbon monoxide and up to 400 other toxic substances.
In Chapter 28 that incorporates the Smoking ban, the definition of smoking is stated as : smoking refers to smoking tobacco or anything which contains tobacco, or smoking any other substance, and smoking includes being in possession of lit tobacco or of anything lit which contains tobacco, or being in possession of any other lit substance in a form in which it could be smoked.

Well they don't contain tobacco, just a mixture of nicotine, propylene glycol /vegetable glycerine, distilled water & flavourings (or combinations of the above). Nothing is lit, just heated & vapourised. There is no smoke, just vapour.

With the exception of nicotine & flavours it basically has the same constituent ingredients as the smoke fluid that we use in smoke machines & hazers for our discos (like having a mini smoke machine in my mouth).

I'm hooked & haven't even thought about finishing off the half pack of JPS that's been sat on the coffee table since the arrival of my EVO. I've also found that I don't "smoke" half as much. When I had a cigarette, I always finished it off, whereas now I have a few puffs, put it down & return later for another few. It's also cheaper (after the inital outlay, you actually save money compared to £5 a day for 20 fags)

Oh yeah, Chocolate & Hazelnut flavour Rocks!.. :steve:

For anyone wondering being as these are eCigarettes, an analog is slang for a regular tobacco cigarette.

I saw these advertised a while ago on TV somewhere. I'm not sure you can list things as 'benefits' though.

I suppose there are benefits over normal fags, yes. I wasn't thinking along those lines though.

True Darren, but then you still have to beat the addiction to nicotine & in a lot of instances where patches, gum etc fail the actual physical habit of picking up a tube & puffing on it.

By the end of next week I will be making a considerable saving on my old £4.20 - £8.40 a day habit.

I'm also breathing easier already, not coughing in the morning & my sense of taste & smell have both improved. I've no cravings, because I'm still getting a nicotine hit & I don't have a nasty taste in my mouth in the morning.

The downside is I had to fork out on a king-size bottle of Febreze coz my van stinks!

Angela has even made up some zero nic menthol carts, that she's alternating with her other flavours that contain nicotine.

Angela had an analog the other night (when she couldn't sleep) because she couldn't be bothered to put her Evo back together. It tasted vile & made her feel ill.

It's a result all round as far as I'm concerned, especially as it's possible to dilute the nicotine juice with PG/VG & distilled water & if desired ween yourself off nicotine all together, just leaving the puffing habit.

Hmmm, as true as that all may be, you are the man who gives up smoking on a regular basis for months at a time, are you not?

Corabar Steve
06-04-2009, 12:22 PM
Yes, but the difference being, this time there are 5 fags sat untouched on the coffee table & another 12 in the van. They would probably have been smoked by now (or at least one a day, first thing). I've had absolutely no desire to pick them up even let alone actually smoke them.

I'm going to stick with this. Apart from anything else, I love the flavours. We've got cranberry, cinamon, praline & cream, toffee, chocolate & hazelnut & menthol. I'm going to invest in coffee, vanilla & cherry too I think.

The science and application you can't argue with, but it still sounds disgusting to me (although not as bad as regular cigarettes)! My Dad is a heavy smoker, has been for a long time, and I recently stripped the wallpaper in his living room. The yellow runs going down the walls from the steam were absolutely horrible, I just wanted to get the job done and clean up as quickly as possible! :(

I'm surprised the "science bit" didn't also point out that the biggest problem with the 'analog' smoking is all the other toxins that the burning of tobacco gives off, from arsenic to radio-active isotopes.

Beerfunk, I stripped and cleaned the house of an old man who had smoked two packs a day for the twenty years he'd lived there, seldom cleaned it and, apparently, frequently missed the bowl when urinating (also frequently not cleaned up). Industrial carpet cleaners took two runs at the place, once before and once after we papered and painted, and even after we stripped the wallpaper, re-papered and painted (four top coats) you could still smell the cigarette smoke!

I know where you're coming from, Beerfunk.

It wasn't until I gave up that I realised how much my flat stunk, as people started admitting that they hadn't liked coming round before due to the smell (no jokes please...I'm referring to the smell of the ciggys!).

Apart from that, things in my flat don't go brown in 5 minutes now!

:D

Personally, I think the best way to give up is to go cold turkey.

It worked for me, as I went from about 50 a day to nothing overnight, and yet when I'd previously tried to cut down to 30 or 20 a day, I failed. Weird!

Tom

I think different people cope with it in different ways.

When my mum was quite ill, she quit then and hasn't been smoking for quite a while now. Worked well for her but maby not others.

I'm surprised the "science bit" didn't also point out that the biggest problem with the 'analog' smoking is all the other toxins that the burning of tobacco gives off, from arsenic to radio-active isotopes.I suppose this is a little too specific
- No carcinogens
Below is a list of 20 ingredients (out of 4,800!) of regular cigarettes. Each of these is described alongside:-
Acetone: One of the active ingredients in nail polish remover.
Ammonia: A caustic agent used in fertilisers and household cleaners. Is added to enhance the flavour of a cigarette, but also helps the smoker to absorb more nicotine thereby enhancing addiction.
Arsenic: Makes your lips burn and is responsible for giving you bad breath.
Benzopyrene: One of the most potent cancer-causing chemicals in the world. Found in coal tar and cigarette smoke.
Benzene: An industrial chemical and a constituent of gasoline. It is a group 1 carcinogen and is responsible for causing leukemia and aplitic anemia.
Butane: A key component of gasoline, it’s highly flammable.
Carbon Monoxide: A colourless, odourless gas, which starves the body of existing oxygen.
Cadmium: Used in batteries and oil paint. It is a group 1 carcinogen. It damages the liver, kidneys, and brain and remains in the body for years (>10 years). Is also excreted in the breast milk of nursing mothers.
Formaldehyde: Used in embalming (preserving tissue). Causes cancer and damages the lung, skin, and digestive tract.
Hydrogen Cyanide: A colourless poisonous gas. Short-term exposure causes headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
Lead: Of the heavy metal group. Stunts growth and damages the brain, kidneys and nervous system. Lead is more easily absorbed in the growing bodies so children are particularly vulnerable. Exposure in children can result in development delays, lower IQ levels, shortened attention spans and increased behavioural problems
Methoprene: An insecticide used to kill fleas on your pets.
Mercury: A heavy metal, affects the central nervous system. Exposure causes tremors, memory loss and kidney disease.
Nickel: A heavy metal, affects the central nervous system. Exposure causes increased susceptibility to respiratory infections.
Nitric oxide: Produces short-term effects on airway activity. High concentrations can lead to acute lung dysfunction.
Phenol: Used in disinfectants and plastic. Exposure causes skin, eye, and mucus membrane irritation.
Polonium: A cancer causing radioactive element.
Styrene: Found in insulation material. Causes headaches, fatigue, weakness, and depression.
Toluene: Embalmers glue, which is a central nervous system depressant. Exposure causes ataxia, tremors, cerebral atrophy, nystagmus, impaired speech, hearing and vision, headaches, dizziness and difficulty sleeping.
Turpentine: A toxic chemical used in paint stripper

& that's just the ingredients, not the result of what happens if you add them together & burn them!

The science and application you can't argue with, but it still sounds disgusting to me (although not as bad as regular cigarettes)!
So you don't use smoke or haze machines? because they must be disgusting too. I'm sure that you don't hold your breath at a gig when fog or haze are in the air. The ingredients in the e-juice are either food or pharmaceutical grade, something I doubt very much with smoke / haze fluid

It's actually quite pleasant, especially with some of the flavours.

& who said anything about giving up???

All I've done is change to an alternative (*& possibly healthier) way of administering my nicotine fix.

*this has not been proven categorically yet, but what tests have been done, it's looking that way.

I don't want to stop, I enjoy a smoke & the act of smoking. What I wasn't enjoying was all the crap that went with it. I haven't coughed once this morning.

Nope, it's the tar that does all that.

If you're worried about nicotine, then you'd best stay away from Tomatoes, Potatoes, Cauliflower, Peppers & Aubergines & other veg in the Solanaceae family of vegetables. As they all contain trace amounts.:sj::sj:

Tests are currently being done, but early indications are that the nicotine is absorbed & there is none in the vapour.

But a reasonable portion of any of the above will contain about as much nicotine as being sat in a room for a few hours getting passive smoke from somebody smoking tobacco. I'd be far more worried about all the other crap that comes out in tobacco smoke.

Nicotine in Vegetables
Dr. Norman F. Childers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you spend three hours in a room with minimal tobacco smoke, you get about the same amount amount of nicotine in 5 oz. of potatoes, 8 1/2 oz. ripe tomatoes, 9 1/2 oz. cauliflower, and 1/3 oz. eggplant. Cooking decreases some of the nicotine. These results are appearing in medical journals (e.g. The New England Journal of Medicine) from the experimental laboratories of Dr. Edward Domino, University of Michigan and colleagues. Extensive research is needed with the food nightshades to determine the culprits causing the subtle deteriorating effects on the human body as well as livestock. The horticulturalists need to study the possibility of "breeding down or out" the poisonous culprits in the highly popular and addicting food nightshades.

There is also nicotine in some varieties of Tea.

As I said above, it looks like there is little to no nicotine in the exhale from somebody using a PV. I'll post the full results when they become available

And having just read about it for 20 minutes, are not at all harmful.

Post amended with :sj: smilie as that part wasn't meant to be taken entirely seriously. (although it is part of the reason that potatoes are mildly poisonous in their raw state)

There was also an article in the New England Medical Journal on the subject back in November 93 saying the same thing. I can only find snippits online, but if I can find the whole thing, I'll post a link for anyone interested.

Data from the above is shown below

The nicotine contents of vegetables
After spending an extraordinarily long time figuring out exactly how much nicotine eggplants contained, I found a proper source and made this page to make Google more helpful in the future. The data is taken from the New England Journal of Medicine vol 329 p437

Vegetable Nicotine in ng/g g per 1µg nicotine
Cauliflower .............16.8.......... 59.5
Eggplant (Aubergine) 100.0........ 10
Potatoes............... 7.1............ 140
Green tomatoes ......42.8 ..........23.4
Ripe tomatoes ........4.3 ............233.0
Pureed tomatoes .....52.0.......... 19.2

& a bit more from it here

There is considerable evidence that nicotine is present in certain human foods, especially plants from the family Solanaceae (such as potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant). Castro and Monji;` Sheen,-' " and Davis et al. have reported on the nicotine content of foods and drinks': We have been able to confirm some of their findings in our laboratory. Gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy-5 were used to determine the nicotine and cotinine content of common vegetables and black tea available from a local supermarket. The vegetables analyzed were tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflower, and green peppers. They were thoroughly washed with tap water, as is done for human consumption. All the vegetables were treated in a similar manner so that any contamination from the tap water would be equally applicable. The vegetables (including their skins) were diced, pureed in a blender, prepared," and assayed-. Cotinine could not be detected in any of the samples. Measurable amounts of nicotine were found in some of the vegetables (Table 1). Green peppers, black tea, and Ann Arbor city water had no detectable nicotine.

In indoor air, a low concentration of nicotine from tobacco smoke is about 1 gg per cubic meter. A person weighing 70 kg with a tidal volume of 4 ml per kilogram of body weight breathing 20 times per minute would exchange 5.6 liters of air per minute. If we assume that nicotine is completely absorbed from the lungs, it would take 179 minutes, or about 3 hours, of breathing in an environment with minimal smoke to absorb 1 ug of nicotine. Table 1 shows the amount of each vegetable by wet weight one would have to eat to obtain an amount of nicotine comparable to that of a passive smoker. Of course, the route of absorption is quite different in eating as compared with inhaling. Furthermore, if the vegetables are thoroughly cooked, the nicotine will diffuse into the cooking water and less will be ingested. It appears that the dietary intake of nicotine in nonsmokers may be of practical importance in the interpretation of the role of passive smoke inhalation when one is determining nicotine and cotinine levels in body fluids.

Edward .Domino M.D Domino M.D. Erich Hornbach, B.A. Tsenge Demana, Ph.D. University of Michigan Ann Arbor. M1 48109

As I said, trace amounts.

Incidentally, the riper the tomato, the higher the nicotine content.

Might also explain why so many ex-smokers experience weight gain, they turn to chips for their nic fix :sj:

& without wishing to appear rude (which has got to be a first when addressing Rob), you're still not in possession of the full facts.

For instance, the nature of the bans is down to a variety of things from the respective countries laws on controlled substances (liquid nicotine is a poison), packaging of the product (UK suppliers use childproof caps & very clear warning labels), knee-jerk reactions from anti smoking lobbyists (the fact that it is unproven in the long term) & pressure from the tobacco companies (who stand to lose a hell of a lot of revenue).

Nobody is saying that they are 100% safe (as due to the length of time they have been around, it's impossible for long term studies to have been done), but what they are a damn sight more safe than tobacco cigarettes.

& all I know is I feel so much better after a week of using one. Without any of the usual side effects that I experience when I usually stop using tobacco. Angela will attest to this, by now I would be at least twice as grumpy as usual.

With regard to the bans, not whether they are evil incarnate or the best thing since sliced bread for smokers.

A nice little article that Angela found today

Where's the Fire?
by Jacob Sullum
Wednesday, April 08, 2009

The first time Tom Kiklas saw an electronic cigarette, he recalls, "I couldn't stand it … I thought, 'I don't want to be involved in this.' I'm an anti-smoking kind of guy."

But after Kiklas realized that electronic cigarettes, a.k.a. e-cigarettes, deliver nicotine without tobacco or combustion products, thereby eliminating virtually all of the health hazards associated with smoking, he was comfortable becoming media relations director for inLife, one of the companies that sell the devices in the United States. Unfortunately, many anti-smoking activists and public health officials are stuck in that first stage of visceral antipathy toward anything that resembles cigarettes, an emotional reaction that could prove deadly for smokers.

Last week, the House of Representatives approved a bill that authorizes the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate tobacco products. Lest anyone think that cigarettes will be safer as a result, the bill prohibits manufacturers from mentioning FDA regulation, saying, "consumers are likely to be confused and misled" if they know about it.

Meanwhile, supporters of the bill, which the Senate will consider later this year, are demanding that the FDA ban e-cigarettes, a potentially life-saving alternative for smokers, as unauthorized drug delivery devices. Last month, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), who brags that he is "one of the Senate's leaders in protecting Americans from the dangers of smoking," urged the FDA to take e-cigarettes off the market "until they are proven safe." The next day, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids applauded Lautenberg's position.

Michael Siegel, a professor at the Boston University School of Public Health, did not. "This is about as idiotic and irrational an approach as I have ever seen in my 22 years in tobacco control and public health," he wrote on his blog. "A public policy maker who touts himself as being a champion of the public's health as well as some of the leading national health advocacy organizations is demanding that we ban what is clearly a much safer cigarette than those on the market, but that we allow, protect, approve and institutionalize the really toxic ones."

Introduced by the Chinese company Ruyan in 2004, e-cigarettes produce water vapor containing nicotine and the food additive propylene glycol. The tip of the battery-powered "cigarette" lights up when a user sucks on it, and the vapor looks like smoke, but it dissipates immediately and contains none of the toxins and carcinogens that are generated when tobacco burns.

Given the enormous differences between this vapor and tobacco smoke, the companies that sell e-cigarettes online and from shopping mall kiosks are on firm ground in advertising them as safer alternatives to conventional cigarettes that can be used in places where smoking is banned. The arguments of e-cigarette opponents, by contrast, reek of red herrings.

The critics warn that nicotine is addictive, that it may contribute to cardiovascular problems, and that smokers may use e-cigarettes as way of coping with smoking bans, continuing their habits instead of quitting. All of these objections also apply to the nicotine gum, patches, sprays and inhalers the FDA has approved as safe and effective smoking cessation tools.

E-cigarettes are less expensive than those products and may be more appealing to smokers looking for an experience that's closer to the real thing. Although they have not been subject to the sort of rigorous testing the FDA demands for new drugs, the drug they contain is not new. It's the same one delivered, in a much dirtier manner, by the cigarettes that the government says kill 400,000 Americans every year.

"The standard for lower-risk products for use by current smokers," argues the American Association of Public Health Physicians, "should be the hazard posed by cigarettes, not a pharmaceutical safety standard." Telling smokers they may not use e-cigarettes until they're approved by the FDA is like telling a floundering swimmer not to climb aboard a raft because it might have a leak.

Well, getting on for 3 weeks now & no looking back!

I'm now into making a saving on what I would've spent on traditional cigarettes (even taking the initial outlay for the starter kits, syringes, bottles etc into account). My cough has completely gone & I can "smoke" inside my favourite boozer.

Seems to be working for me.

Seem to have picked up some converts at NADJ on Sunday too both Lee & Paul Arnett expressed an interest

Even Excalibur was impressed.

Although I did worry Clive@CRS as there were no fire marshals on duty & therefore nobody was allowed to use smoke or haze machines. He wondered where the puff of smoke that was showing off his lasers beautifully had come from.

I was indeed. I know how some smokers can struggle to give up, and if this is a lesser of two evils, then fair do's. It may not be the best option, but it's one of the least worst. Steve says he can now walk to the pub quicker and easier.

I fear he still has some way to go on the path to ridding his body totally of toxins. :( :( :(

I think it's even more than 10.

My dad gave up around 20 years ago due to having a chronic cough, and the cough is still no better.

I guess the difference is that if he HADN'T given up, he wouldn't still be alive.

The odd thing is I'm not sure whether or not to consider myself a non smoker or not.

I don't smoke, but I go through the motions of smoking. Strictly speaking (by the wording of law) I'm not smoking.

PropellerHeadCase

But you are inhaling a nicotine-based intoxicant - depends on your perspective I susppose.

By the letter of the law (and most smokers I'd guess) you aren't, in the eyes of most non-smokers you are, but you're not a) exhaling and, b) dumping ash, butts and cellophane everywhere.

It may not be the best option, but it's one of the least worst.
Seems to be a more effective way of giving up tobacco (from the habit POV).

You still get your fix, so no cravings & there is the hand to mouth ritual (which is where most failed users of gum & patches fail), & it doesn't look as twätty as using an inhalator.

Only fallen off the wagon once in the time I've been using e-cigs:

My van seems to set the batteries off at high speeds (vibration) & I got stuck in traffic on the way to a gig, so in a misguided attempt to prolong battery life, I lit up one of the pack that was sat untouched in the cab.

It lasted precisely one puff & tasted bloody awful!

I'm treating myself to a model with a manual switch (as opposed to a pressure sensitive one (Like wot I use now)) for my birthday solely for driving.

Also Angela & I have kind of become importers. We've done a bulk order of batteries with USB passthroughs (instead of a normal battery, the battery has a USB lead coming out of the end where the LED would usually be, this plugs into your PC & you can power the e-cig from that rather than waste your battery charge) for ourselves & other members of one of the e-cig forums.

The passthroughs are working very well, I can now guarantee that I'll go out for the night with 4 fully charged batteries (6 if you include the 2 for my new manual switched Titans)

I think the Titans may well be going up for sale in the near future due to a company bringing out a manual battery compatible with the M401. Means I will only have to have one set of atomizers now.

I had to go to the doctor last week due to a severe throat infection (boy have I not been well over the past 2 weeks) The glands in my throat swole up to the extent that I was starting to resemble a bullfrog.*

The doctor asked if I was a smoker, so I filled him in on the situation.

I am officially a non-smoker.

Who says you can't have your cake & eat it?

*My throat is still swollen, but nowhere near as bad as it was. I couldn't swallow, & it was begining to affect my breathing. I had to pull out of Friday's gig & at one point it was touch & go as to if I'd be able to do Saturday's one.

How much does 4,335 cigarettes cost? I just looked up the cost of what I used to smoke and they are currently 28.5p / cigarette.

So since I stopped I have saved roughly £24,966, less the cost of the hypnotist leaves a tidy £24,926 profit :)

And all I've treated myself to are 2 TVs and a holiday....time to raid the piggy bank I think

No idea. But then as I said earlier, I have no intention of giving up entirely, so I don't really care how much I would've saved. It's a bit like Jim Bowen's "This is what you would've won", a bit of a moot point.

But if you want to do the sums I was on 20 - 30 a day average & my regular brand cost £4.50 (no idea if the price is the same now)

As a side note to something I said earlier, the Titans have now been given away. After their initial "Wow!" period they soon bedded in & became an inferior product to the Intellicig EVOs that I mainly use. I hadn't noticed that the battery life was roughly half that of the EVOs (or the EM4s that I got as manual batteries that fit the same model (M401)) Folks who were at BPM will also notice that the bigger model I had (510 Titan) looked cheaper & not as well constructed as the smaller (more cigarette sized) one (M401 (EVO / EM4)) They also didn't give as good a flavour as the M401s due to the fact that the 510s burn hotter at a higher voltage (this burns off a lot of the liquid before it gets vapourised)

I'm treating myself to a model with a manual switch (as opposed to a pressure sensitive one (Like wot I use now)) for my birthday solely for driving. The issues hilighted above (the pressure switch being basically a tiny microphone & therefore activating with vibration wind & loud noises) have been solved for me by using batteries with a manual switch (now available in the UK from Liberty Flights), Intellicig have also addressed the issue by redesigning their batteries. An announcement was made last week that the white batteries were now no longer affected by loud noises & the black & silver ones would soon follow suit.

4 years on & still going strong. Just changed hardware as Intellicig are discontinuing their black & silver models (seems most people want their cigarette sizes e-cigs to look like cigarettes. I don't, I like it to be obvious at first glance that I haven't got a fag in my gob). Now using Joytech eRoll (very impressed so far & the portable charger looks way cooler than the old one), with Intellicig liquid.

Thinking about getting myself an e-pipe for home use (pipe, slippers, smoking jacket, cravat & smoking cap :D)(some of the previous statement may have been ficticious).

No intention of giving up.

Nearly 8 years on now. Joytech discontinued the eRoll about a year ago, so I'm now on ePuffer Magnum Snaps (the snaps bit refers to the fact that the cartridges attach to the batteries with magnets father than screwing on). It's becoming increasingly difficult to get cigarette sized e-cigs. I don't want to be sucking on something that looks like a lightsabre.

I have also amassed a small collection of various models of e-pipe (which fits in quite nicely with the Steampunk stuff) still in search of the smoking cap, jacket & cravat though.

TBH I find the amount of vapour from my pipe satisfying & I've got my minis for when visible vapour could be a problem, in fairness they put out the same amount of clouds as a tobacco cigarette, so no real complaints there (hold it in a little longer than usual & you'd be hard pushed to see any).

Did you get one of the ePuffer pipes Wayne?

The best way to stop smoking is never to start.
You don't miss what you never had.

As a kid I remember my dad going out to work at 5:30am.
As he hit the morning cold air he would start coughing.
This is what put me off smoking.
He had his first heart attack at 46.
I am 60 and still awaiting my first heart attack.

I have no problem with people smoking fags or electronic cigarettes so long a they don't blow it my way.

If you actually read the whole thread, you'll see there was never any intention of stopping smoking & nobody asked for the best way to stop.

I'm sure if you wait patiently it will come.

Do you have the same attitude to smoke machines?

Did you live in our house? The difference is, my dad didn't have a heart attack (though he died at 52 from an unrelated issue). Me however, I DID have a heart attack, aged 57, never having touched a fag in my life.

Steve - you've seen the size of the mod I puff on.....you need to get with the crowd and get a CoolFire IV. There's definitely no mistaking it for a real ciggy! (plus being sub-ohm....the clouds are unreal!)

Angela's search for a suitable mini to replace her now defunct eRoll is hitting a bit of a wall. We did find some, but the battery life on their PCC would probably mean having to carry at least 2 or 3 of them.

On Thursday night she spotted this. (https://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/e-cig-kits-devices/eleaf-ijust-2-mini-e-cigarette-kit.html)

Friday lunchtime we ordered a kit, an extra battery, this tank (https://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/tanks/joyetech-cubis-pro-mini-tank.html), & the highest ohm attys that both tanks will take (not really interested in sub ohm, we both prefer taste to clouds).

Bright & early yesterday Mr Postman delivered some shiny new toys. We've both been trying them swapping back & forth (although I have no intention of giving up on my pipes. Firstly, we thought we'd go for the extreme & used the 0.3:r: & 0.5:r: atty that came with the respective tanks & completely open airflow. HOLY :Censored:!!!! Angela's first drag nearly blew her head off & I didn't stop laughing for around 5 minutes. The throat hit was unbelievably strong & my god they were noisy. Tried again with airflow closed still very strong. Eventually we settled on 1.5:r: with half an air hole open in the Joyetech tank & 0.75:r: in the Eleaf with the airholes closed (so technically Angela has joined the sub ohm club). Much better, more like what we're used to & less noisy

One thing however, we both got such a nicotine rush from our usual 2.4% liquid, that we ended up cutting it with some AG that & had knocking about with my 7.2% liquid. Now both happily vaping away on 1.2%.

I'm not particularly fond of the mouthpiece on either tank, so I'm getting some narrow bore drip tips from The Drip Tip Store (http://www.thedriptipstore.com/collections/view-all-drip-trips). Hopefully this will make it a much closer experience to my pipes & minis for me. According to several threads on ECF this also gives better flavour, here's hoping.

Two things, Steve.
1) PCC. I never had Angela down for joining the Parochial Church Council.:confused: She's not become a born again Christian, has she? Apologies for a post regarding religion, I may be sailing mighty close to the wind, regarding the spirit of Rules 19 and 20.

Which brings me to
2) Steve, I'm amazed at you. Flouting my beloved Rule 23.

23. All communication should be in the English language and text language should not be used. :Naughty:

Warning: Lest anyone should think I'm being serious, this is yet another of my many attempts at humour, jest, and levity, with the aim of getting a rise ( or at the very least a :moon:) out of Steve. Although I'm no expert on these things, I'm guessing Steve is referring to attenuators ( to give them their full title ) of varying resistances which presumably have some effect on battery life, temperature, or both.

Nah.....give me clouds any day :)

That said, I keep getting in trouble at home (and indeed it's starting to get on my nerves in the van) because big clouds cause no end of greasy residue on glass :(.

So....I just got one of these :) https://thevape.guide/kanger-evod-pro-v2-review/. Not as hot, not as cloudy, but like you and Angela I'm starting to appreciate the flavour of the custard juice these days instead of the throat hit. That said, I'm running it at 0.5:r: at the moment :)

Battery life is insane (lasts a whole day and I'm a heavy vaper), and it's not quite so clunky to carry around.

Sorry.....I did warn you about that at BPM I believe. My big Aspire Atlantis tank runs nicely at around 0.2:r:....but I'm used to it. I've seen hardened smokers on their knees after a drag on that thing.....it's hilarious :)

And especially for Peter from a fellow vaper.....

I thought that was the bowl end (the battery to tank thread) rather than the stem. I fancy a trad looking pipe with a long stem & I've sound a supplier, but they only do ones interchangeable with 510 drip tips (like wot I've got on the ELeaf) & not any of the pipes I've got.

Well, I've got considerably less now. Since last week, I've broken 3 pipes (1 irreparably, 1 some superglue will probably sort & 1 being replaced under warranty even though it had expired) Also on Tuesday my van was broken into & a bag containing among other things 3 of my pipes (including my most recent acquisition) & all of my cigalikes & their charging case.

Still got enough to be going on with, but massively disgruntled to say the least.

You forgot to mention the manicure case there! :p

I did see that little incident on the Book of Faces the other day. Hope they manage to get the thieving :Censored: but I wouldn't like to put money on it.

Does this mean that Thor's hammer thing's been nicked as well?

Time to come over to the dark side and try some proper sub-ohm clouds ;)

It does, but I've already found a replacement.

My iJust2 has a 0.5 coil fitted in a Cubis Mini tank. Nice, but I probably use it the least of all my devices.
