Good start to the day, NOT!

Well it's a lovely sunny day here in Liverpool and it was all going well until.......

I went to drive to work and noticed both of my number plates had been stolen :eek: :eek:

Great :mad: sometime between parking up last night about 1130pm through until 730am some nice "local" had them away :eek:

Just hope it wasn't used in the shooting last night :eek:

Have reported it to the Police and now trying to source a new set from the Local Audi dealer.

Really frustrating as I'm supposed to be heading home for Easter at lunchtime today :mad:

Can't you just get a piece of strong card and place them in the front and back windows?

Also there are places that will do new plates for you the same day.

most places want you to produce your documents and some form of id before you can buy a set of plates,bit of a t**t if you are away from home when something like this happens.

Seriously, don't forget you'll need your logbook or reference number to get new plates. Perhaps why "borrowing" yours has occurred. ;) :confused:

Have just "made" some on the printer at work that'll get me down to Audi.

Reason I'm going to Audi dealer is that it's on business lease from them so I don't have the log book. They can do them in about 45mins and they'll have the correct screws etc

Sorry to hear about this.

In the good old days, anybody could get any number plate they liked made up, but I understand that these days you need to provide documents showing that the plate you want is the genuine reg for the vehicle which you own.

Therefore, it's easier for criminals to nick plates and put them on a car they've stolen to use for a robbery or other crime.

Thanks for all the comments Guys,

Just to update you, it took mearly 2 1/2 hrs at Audi :eek: manly due to waitng for the V5 to be faxed over from Milton Keynes (I hate that place even more now!)

Got the new plates made and fitted for £42.86 which I didn't think was bad (probably included the cups of tea I had while I was there :D )

Then off to the Police station for a crime number. I'd already got a reference no in the morning when I first reported it. I want to say how efficent Merseyside Police were :) . I had numerous calls in the morning from the local Police then the CSI type people........even had one from victim support :eek:

I went to the local station where they gave me a number to ring, I rang the number very good service and as I was at that point driving back to Chesterfield they textd me the crime number.

The number has been put onto the Police national computer so chances of getting pulled has gone up!

Anyway all in all, what could of been a complete drama just turned out to be very inconvienient :D

I have to say that knowing how much can be done over t'interweb from the VOSA site, I'm amazed at the time it took you Paul! :eek: Try putting your details in and see what comes up.

This happened to me last year.....I probably should have reported it to the police but didn't.

I think in total it cost me £16 and 10 minutes in the garage around the corner :)

I never heard anything more about it....so whoever stole my plates obviously thought better of it and decided not to go ahead with their crime wave :)

Like I said can't fault the Police. Just had another call from them :eek: Turns out there were 2 attempted vehicle thefts on the same night about 50yds down the road from me.
