Once upon a time, there was an old DJ, who needed a bigger PA. It was raining, so he decided to see what he could get. As he had great affection for the Peavey cabs he was using, he decided to get some more. Only two things militated against this.
1) Some folk on here said they didn't rate them. :(
2) No dealer he knew of at the time had them in stock. :( :(

So he looked on t'interweb, and found a place called Class-D, in Mansfield apparently selling demo cabs at silly money. He rang them, and told them what he wanted. They told him to bring his cabs along and have a play. His kind of folk. :D

He found the place, and went in. It bore no resemblance at all to a regimented and ordered business, and resembled chaos incarnate. :eek: After a while, he bought a completely different PA to anything he had intended, and came away very happy, especially as he'd expected demo items, and they were all boxed new.

Over the years, he returned, and came to the conclusion that the staff were lunatics of the highest order. Loveable, but loony. He took friends there, and spoke to other visitors, all of whom agreed with his appraisal of the place.

Last week, one of his friends had to return an amp for repair, so they arranged to meet a Forum Member there to transact a deal. Said forum member calls himself Crazy, so his sanity must also be debatable. :(

They met up, had a tour of the premises, a demo of everything in the shop, and left.The old DJ was hoping to get his hands on one of the new pieces of kit they are intending to bring on the market, but none were ready, so he put his name down for one, hopefully.

So I may have to visit a DJ in Yorkshire who has the model I am considering for a comprehensive sound test first:D :D :D

And buy a heavy duty trolley to move them around plus wind up speaker tripods cos I cant lift them very high==I must be getting weak:eek:

Time it right, and if Justin and I are working in close proximity, you could hear nearly 30% of the product range. :D remember to get your Visa stamped at the Lincolnshire border, and don't forget warm clothes, when venturing this far North. :D

The people that are doing these tests are just normal people are they not? Perhaps they have bad taste or get things wrong? Just maybe...

I don't buy anything because of the badge on the box/shop doorway. I buy whatever fulfills my needs, and if that happens to be lower cost, that's a bonus.

Conversely, does it make economic sense to pay £150 more for a piece of kit bearing the correct badge, but offering no other discernible benefits over a cheaper offering? It's all down to knowing when to economise, rather than cut corners. Fine line sometimes. Wish I could tread it more accurately sometimes.

Not much then, otherwise you would change your mind about the brand snobbery quote. There are a lot of inferior cheap products out there that I personally wouldn't use.

I prefer the 'cheap stuff' over the branded. You are paying for the name most of the time IMO. Drink is another issue
