As you all know my love affair with AFC Wimbledon will never die.

Over the Easter weekend I made 2 trips to watch them. Good Friday was a 1-0 home win over Basingstoke. Drove back up to Chesterfield for a gig saturday then back down to Bromley away yesterday..........and this happened in the second half

"The game now began to move from end to end, with Bromley counterattacking at speed, and Pullen (AFCW Keeper) was forced to make a couple of excellent saves. With three minutes remaining, sustained Dons pressure led to a cross to the far post, which Taylor prodded goalwards, for Rocky Baptiste to poke home from close range.

Three minutes of added time was indicated and almost immediately Jay Conroy (AFCW LB) went down injured in AFCW penalty area, and Jon Main (AFCW CF) kicked the ball out of play on the halfway line. Bromley threw the ball in to Hall (Bromley), and the Dons players stood back as he launched the ball forward, attempting to return it to Wimbledon. To everyone’s amazement, the ball sailed over Pullen, landing in the net, and the referee had no option but to award the goal.

Bedlam ensued with the referee eventually asking Bromley’s management team if they would allow Wimbledon to walk the ball into the net, but they refused. After heated discussions, play resumed and the referee’s whistle soon went for full time.

Terry Brown (AFCW manager) was a very angry man, furious that Bromley had failed to follow the accepted convention of allowing the opposition to walk the ball into the net in such circumstances. So far as the game was concerned, he said, “I thought we played very well and dominated the first half. Bromley had the better of the second half, and the better chances, but when we scored with just a couple of minutes to go, that seemed like the end of the game. We now have to ensure we use what happened today, and at Eastleigh, to spur on and unite the players, and winning the Blue Square South will be even sweeter for what has happened.”

And so the Dons go into the final two games of the season, needing either a point at Hampton, or a victory against St Albans, to win the league".

Then I had a lovely drive back up to Liverpool

Well we can still do it (promotion) and I've no doubt the players will be fired up for next saturday.

Interesting--- my son Mick Swaysland used to play upfront with Rocky Baptiste for Wealdstone, also played with Jermaine Beckford who is now a star striker for Leeds United.
