Phishing scam using Paypal

Watch out for a Phishing scam going around at the moment guys which uses PayPay. It will say there has been suspicious activity on your account using a credit card and get you to log in. Report it to [email protected] and delete it. Below is the URL it's using. SO DON'T CLICK ON IT AND LOG IN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD it's just to make you aware.

I get these all the time, sometimes in my spam folder, sometimes not.
If there is anything like this and I'm curious, I'll log in by typing the full url first.

I NEVER click a link off an email - you're just asking for trouble really.

This one can be quite convincing if you take your eye off the ball for a split second. ;)

The best thing to do is to print these out & look at the email address of the sender.

It's a slight giveaway, especially in this example, as the name Paypal doesn't even appear in the email address!

Apart from that, it is from a .nl email address, which presumably is the Netherlands...not somewhere you'd expect to get a genuine Paypal email from.

Who ever it is there site says that it was take off on Monday and hopes to be back tomorrow(Tuesday).

I'm talking about one of the best ways to tell if these emails are genuine, and whether they do indeed come from the people they purport to.

The email address that the phishing scam comes from in the first place.

The one with the fake link asking you to log into Paypal (and, come to that, the website address it gets you to log you into as well).

Or have I misunderstood what you're talking about?

Well, I had the same scam a few days ago, so I'm assuming it was from the same (or a similar) email address to the one YOU received.

So...did your email come from an email address with "Paypal" at the beginning?

Mine didn't.

That's the point I've been trying to make...this is one of the ways you can tell whether these emails are from the people they purport to be from.

I think Rob meant that he had the same scam emailed to him a few days ago and he thought it was the same one as yours.

I had one this morning from HSBC but in the title it said....

"Important Massage from HSBC"

I'm popping down to my local branch for a rub down later. :D

In firefox , if you place the mouse pointer over the link , where it`s going to appears at the bottom left of your screen , this applies to emails as well.

Example:

http://www.claim your free money.co.uk (http://www.crimson-tide-disco.co.uk/)

Look at the link at the bottom of your screen , the link actually goes to my site.

A lot of these hoax/phishing emails , use all the graphics from the real sites ,to fool people into believing there real.

A local 87 year old received an email from a 'lawyer' telling her that a relative had died in an accident in Nigeria, and that to inherit his considerable fortune , she would need to provide her Bank Details.
Being of a vulnerable age she duly complied.

Within minutes she received a reply from the 'lawyer'..................

Got It As Well Simply Send An Email To PayPal Who Confirmed Its A Scam And Said They Were Dealing With It :)
