I know it seems like common sense, but do you think there is much difference between paid listings and free listings on websites ?

I have a couple of paid listings which do nothing whereas free listings often bring in a little work. Obviously the actual site makes a difference but is it worth upgrading to paid listings ??

It depends on the site, a paid listing is usually bigger, on the first page and have a clickable link which are all good things to have. Web promotion without a clickable links are pretty much useless, as is appearing at the bottom of a long list. If the promotion site does not have many quality visitors, a hugh ad link will do diddly squat. Try searching for a disco in your area using popular search terms and see which listing sites feature in the results, the ones that do may work for you. the ones that don't, can't

Depends on what you get for your money. If it's literally just an advert on a directory then this to me holds less value than a site which offers more for your money such as document checking, accreditations, memberships etc..

Good point Vectis - one of the sites I am considering upgrading is uk-disco.

I have 23 paid adverts on listing sites and a further 21 which are free.

Of the 44 sites I advertise on, the 10 which bring the most hits to my website are all paid for...not a single one is a free listing.

My second best performing listing is the most expernsive, costing nearly £200 a year, so it seems there is a definate link between the cost of an advert & the response rate.

My pleasure pp!

Just remember that different sites have different results for different people, so just because they're MY best 10, some of them might be toilet for you!

Good luck, anyway!

Just tried getting on ulitmate bridal and the link was down.

Just spent best part of £200 on most of these sites so fingers crossed it brings in the results.
