Best way to start is Templates and NVU as a editor or get a hosting company that has built in templates. Anyway I though I made you one

If your uncles server hosts php then I would recommend Joomla which is a content management interface. Has an online admin panel and has thousands of templates & modules for galleries, calendars, forms the whole lot and its all free!

With the dealings I have had with it you need to know a little bit of programing and time. Plus some of the templates are poor.

If you're on a budget then either NVU (http://www.net2.com/nvu/) if you want to code yourself, or a CMS system like Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/) or CMS Made Simple (http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/) if you want to do everything on the server - as long as your hosting supports scripting like PHP and allows MySQL databases.

Or some hosting with templates built in, which are popular but are usually a lot less flexible than having complete control, even within a CMS system.

I can't believe I'm reading another "how can I do my own website for peanuts" thread :bang:

I don't think anyone would disagree that the internet is THE most important selling platform nowadays?

We all moan about £60 Sid cutting corners and delivering poor value for money, yet we want to support our businesses with £5 a year websites?

Sheesh!! :zip:

Dreamweaver is expensive but used properly it can delivery outstanding results.

But, I have seen people code with windows notepad just using HTML as well as Dreamweaver.

Microsoft Publisher/Word can do HTML pagees to nice level, but does not have freedom of Dreamweaver.

thex-faders made recommended a good soloution to your problem. Joomla offers some great mods, modules, and components to enchance any website.

That is why we use it for our website. If I want to add/edit or delete content on the website all I need is a computer with web browser. I'm not depended on one machine which hosts all the software.

Plus Joomla is Free and all requires is MySQL and PHP to host it. Price of hosting on decent server starts from as little £2.95 PCM (Per calendar month) www.justhost.com (http://www.justhost.com)

We use www.servage.net (http://www.servage.net) as I can not fault the support and very reliable for £4.50 PCM

Your website is your shop front window to your business and regular review of website stats is vital to ensure you website is working for you especially on the bounce rate.

Google Analytics is very good and free to monitor a site's performance.

Well said, and as CB Entertainments said it can be time consuming, but arnt all websites in the initial stages? Once its up and running its not difficult to maintain at all.
In regards to the templates, yes there are some absoulty aweful ones out there but once youve found the right one you dont need much editing or playing around [And if you do you can edit it through the admin panel whic means you wont need dreamweaver or other html editors]. Mainly just chaging the header to your company logo etc.

Try WebEden it will do everything you have asked for and it's FREE for 15 pages if you have google adwords on site (you have these on yours anyway)

I've spent 20 mins to show you what you could do, imagine what could be achieved if you spent a couple of days on it with well thought out content and some good pics!! check the slide show

Take a look MAD DOG DISCO (http://mdd.webeden.co.uk/#)
