lighting advice....sorry!!

Hi,

Could you advise me what i should do regarding my lighting. Currently i have got x2 rovers x2 impossibleds and a kam starcluster 3d. I feel like i need to beef it up a bit. What would you buy?? budget is no more than £300.

If the budget runs to it, I'd recommend the small panels, rather than pars. (I think I'm alone in this matter, but hey ho. :D )

the big question is where do you think the weakness is in your lighting,the 2 impossileds will fill most rooms,the star cluster i assume you are pointing at the ceiling and running with the rovers covering the floor,does that give enough light/movement on the dancefloor or do you feel you need a bit more here,if so then a couple of scanners is needed like winners or dynamos(will the dynamos link with the rovers does anyone know) .if you think you need something totally different then mood lighting is the way to go,try to go out and see some in action for yourself that is what i would look at if i was you.(dont arrange to meet daz on at a motorway service station though:eek: sorry daz)

The Tri Phase doesn't produce too much light anyway, just gives off a small moonflower effect, Ideal for a Centrepiece, as is the Miracled.

I have to say I did have on my rig mircaled (well two of them) and an impossibled. It looks awful!. I wish however I had sold my two mircaleds instead of the impossibled because when pointed at the floor i think it gave off an good effect.

Not all lights are intended to give off a lot, the Tri Phase is something different, not just coloured dots everywhere.

Having just watched the ADJ video again, that is exactly what it is! Dots and not even very big ones!

Unless you are playing Wembley, 2 x Impossibleds will cover a very large area and you won't need anything else.

hate to pick argument with daz because im bound to be wrong or lose or problably both but dont think the op has got any scanners thats why we wonder whether that is what is needed,if you can imagine swithching off a pair of impossileds and having a pair or rovers turned on be like someones turned the lights out imo,i think a pair of scanners linked to them would be better. but i also agree that some ambient lighting is needed for slower/earlier on .but the big question is where do the op think he's problem is.

Lost in translation perhaps, but I did call them barrel scanners and he does have 2, which would give plenty of movement as I said. :)

1) LED pars/panels/bars for colour wash, which is quite a good idea.
2) Filament flat scanners, to contrast with the impossibled's dots. If you got some of the acme family they'd sync up with the Rovers nicely.

There is no bedroom involved, all my gear is downstairs, and besides, I know what I am talking about.

I try to be honest with you Steve, and it gets thrown back at me every time!

Having thought about it, The Tri Phase doesn't produce dots at all that will blend in with the Impossibled.

The Prinicipal of the Impossibled, is several clusters of coloured dots thrown out, causing different patterns.

The Tri Phase is fixed 'Dots' that just change colour all at once, and it spins. Motor driven, with one LED.

It would also be positioned in the centre, in between the other lights.

The Acme Rovers are fantastic with smoke, but if the venue does not permit it, the crowd are just staring at a mirror and a bright bulb all night pretty much.

Darren is right though, two will definately fill a room.

Where did you get "playing with gear at home" from?

If you're being sarcastic and that is supposedly aimed at me, I don't just Play as such.

19 years ??? There can be DJs that have been doing it five years that know more than you. Not neccercerily, but it is possible.

You could still be using Vinyl or cassette tapes for all we know.

My aim is to advice, I have not given out any dangerous advice, and things like career, ethnic backgrounds, gender is irrellevant. I know what I am talking about here, otherwise I wouldn't have answered any threads.

You CAN be qualified in lighting design, which will almost certainly give you a nice certificate at the end:D
Not in disco lighting design admittedly, but theatre lighting design. However, knowing how to light theatre would give a good grounding for disco lighting design as it teaches you about how light works, how colour works and how lenses affect light (and much more!).
It would be wildly OTT to take such a course for disco lighting, but it is an effect lighting qualification none the less!:D
