best projector for money

Hi all,

Im after a new projector for displaying photos and slideshows.

Ive tried searching but cant find many ideas.

Hopefully Id like one that can work from a PC, but im open to options.


Budget £200-300 - is this enough? with technology and price changing all the time, i dont want to jump in and spend unwisely.

and will they project onto a standard projector screen?


any help appreciated.

If your looking to do mobile work with it, Then seriously consider a short throw projector

I've also found that unless you're playing very big venues with lots of ambient light that you can get away with lumen counts as low as 1500-1600.

BEN-Q are pretty good and fairly cheap. I would not recommend anything under 2000 lumens though!

Really good price. The replacement bulbs are a good price as well. 1800 lumens. You would of paid that off with x4 gigs!!!!

True but the replacement bulbs are only £49 at the moment. The do go up in price to £119 but that is still not as expensive as some bulbs. You have still got £100.00 left in your budget so get a couple of bulbs then you are covered. Just a screen and projector stand. Unicol make good sturdy stands.

I bought one from www.dabs.com yesterday. 2300 Lumens and it came to less than £300 delivered. It was the last one in stock but have some other reasonably priced ones in stock.

I think im going to give it til monday then take the plunge and choose one. (im very impulsive - and usually cant wait! :) ) good to know theres quite a few in my price range.
