what are these called??

Might be bit stupid but was wondering if anyone could tell me what the item is called so i can find it.

Seen it sometimes at offices. Its a solid "block" that goes over cables and usually has hazard tape over the top. Im thinking of this because it would be better than using loads of tape. Granted it might not look great but if i got a black one and all my cables are black hoping it wont look so bad.

Any thoughts?

Im nearly 100% sure that in order to be safe for the general public the mats still need to be taped down at the edges, and theres some H&S issue about using mats and cables by doorways. Ill loook it up in our (dayjob) H&S file next week if you want me to :)

Yeah would be great Steve. Hoping I can find some that arent an eye sore really but the thing behind this rather than tape is Im using loads of gaffa tape and sometimes taping to carpet doesnt really stick.

I bought one length to use for uplighting, just for where I need to run cables past a doorway and it works very well :) The stuff I bought was sealed so you had to slide the cables through which is impossible when the connectors are already attached, so I just had to take a stanley knive to the bottom to allow me to put the cables in, instead. Even the cheap one I bought, set me back over £30.. so it's not cheap!

the link tom sent to me had 9 metre lengths which you can choose how you want to feed the cables through. I never thought about what to do for uplighting but think you have helped make my mind up!

Eastnor castle is full of tiny rooms and I doubt you'd need more than 8 uplighters in any of them! Nice long staircase to load up through as well :D
