Didn't know where to stick this so here goes....:o

Run the disco business and 'Pikeyville' (Caravan letting) on the same land line different ring tones so this is easy to understand....

Problem comes when we don't want to take anymore calls for the night....people really ring up at 10pm :eek: ....so would like to leave a message on the answer phone......

...but what would you leave....:confused:

..well it's not entertainment...what is it?

Tough one Tony...as both businesses are so different.

If you mention BOTH businesses on the message, I don't think that would come over very well...as it might make you sound like you are running lots of businesses.

Can't you just get a second landlineline for the sake of around a tenner a month line rental?

I think that's what I'd do.

Bingo...we do..:o ..but the majority of the time I answer and I am at hand with the booking diaries......just that sometimes calls slip through.....:o

I would like the answer phone to say something that would do 2 things -
1 = They have called the right place.
2 = Would leave the information to get back to them.

I maybe asking to much here....form an answer phone of course. :o

About 50-50.
As we have the same number it's difficult...also we have kids....who tend to answer the phone on the 1st ring....i've now sorted that.

Ideal positon to be in -
1 line for disco
1 line for caravan
1 line for friends
1 for kids

It's essentially a VOIP service which connects to your broadband router but can be managed totally online.

All of the accounts are manageable online, you can have different greetings on the voicemail of each number, and during the daytime have them forwarded to one common number if you wish - and these forwarding calls are included in the bundle.

Call quality is superb - you can't tell the difference - and you can choose local numbers or in fact any area code you like. So it might pay to have an area code local to where your caravan is sited for that business? Just a thought.

Invest in a digital pabx system, Works wonders :), For not a lot of costs you can have compete control IVR Hunt Groups VBoxes etc etc

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Just use something generic about the office being closed, as Darren suggested. I spend a couple of grand every year booking villas from private owners for our family holiday. On each occasion I call, I know that I'm talking to a guy who has another job, but also owns property overseas to let. I don't expect the telphone to be answered in a business like manner (especially if I were cretinous enough to call at 2230); I expect it to be answered by a regular guy with some property to let.

This could cause major problems in general, let alone answerphone messages.

If you answer saying 'Caravan letting', then potential customers may misjudge your profession and not book your services.

I Guess the message will have to be something very general, like
'Hello, It's Fred Smith here, there is no one to take your call, leave a message after the tone.'

Messages are no good with the vital contact name and number to call them back! :D

I think Max assumed they'd have the common sense to leave those with the message anyway!

My own answerphone message doesn't ask for a name or telephone number. After the introduction, it just says "...please do leave a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can"

Even if they DID forget to leave their number (which the odd one does) my answerphone automatically dials 1471 after each call & announces their number. Apart from that, I can also check numbers on my caller display call log.
