So out of intrest who uses personal mobile phones for their business and who has dedicated business ones.

Just wondering out of intrest.

I personaly use:

Dedicated VOIP Lines - For Business
Business Broadband Connection
Business mobile phone tarriff

Just with everybody marketing on proffesional images etc etc, And the like, If i rung a firm and someone answered and said hang on ill get him or a kid picked up id soon end the call

As 99% of consumer packages have a clause in the t&c's saying not to use for business, That is broadband

In your case rob i see your point, If you live alone and only ever you answering, But are you breaking your broadband t&c's ?

landlines not so much of t&c's from when i looked into them all back in december for a project,

The main reason for that is kids / missus answering phone etc,

Worth noting, however, that in the case of smal business HMRC, for example, contemplates the use of personal items such as car, phone, etc. used in part for business - implying that if not the norm certainly extremely common and accepted.

I have my broadband with BT and my landline too and I use them for Business and Pleasure. When I am working from home most of the day then the house is more or less my office. I put my broadband and landline bills through the books as do I my mobile too.

Daz, this is what I recall from when we relocated offices years ago, so may or may not still be how BT work.

The difference is in the "contention ratio". In our case, we have a 1MB/sec broadband service, the bandwidth which may be shared with up to 4 other businesses back to the exchange.

With the domestic broadband service, the contention ratio was a 1:20 share (i.e. 4 times more users)

In reality, I don't know how much this matters, I guess if 4 others were sending files concurrently, it may take a minute or so longer to send or receive a large powerpoint file, which IMHO isn't the end of the world!

Have a good deal with vodafone as worked for them in the past, so have managed to retain a good deal.

Is checking your company emails classed as business use, Is buying gear online. The home service providers don't want to be used for making money out of, They want their cut out of it.
