this occured to me the other day

you've got era's of music like the sixties, seventies, eighties's, nineties's, noughties,

next year is the start of a new decade, so what's that decade going to be called? the tenties?

tenties just doesn't sound right does it?

just a thought anyway.

I'm still getting used to the 'noughties' I still don't like saying it and generally say 'up to date' rather than noughties.

I'll probably call it the 'Twenty Tens' or 'Twenty Teens'. I haven't thought about it until now! :o

No, the tens. What has something which happens in 2010, 2011 or 2012 got to do with teens?

If the higher decades are the nineties, eighties, seventies, sixties, fifties, forties, thirties and twenties...then it seems to make sense that the next one is the tens.

If you were talking about something which happened in the two decades from 1910 to 1929, wouldn't you say "In the nineteen tens and twenties....."?

if we are in the noughties now surely we're enterting the "well behaves?"

I heard it called Music from The Millennium, which I liked but I guess most people would assume it was limited to the year 2000 though
