Just had a phone call from someone who wants a disco this Saturday for a childs 6th birthday as the DJ has let her down (oh so familiar story), so got the information from her, location, times etc and gave her a price....."HOW MUCH???....just to play some music.....don't think so.....goodbye"

I couldn't even explain it's not just playing music!

I felt like saying to her, go to yell.com and find a 60 quid Sid.

I don't think people have a clue about what we do in reality. I used to work in a factory making double glazed products many years ago. We were told by the sales people that if we got them any leads and the jobs were confirmed, we would get 10% commission per job. I did pretty well out of that just for passing on numbers of people I had spoken to whilst out and about but the funny thing was....and my reason for posting this...was when people would say stuff like "I fancy having a new front door"..You would go through everything with them and then hit them with the price and they'd go "HOW MUCH!!?!??"... for example, one guy nearly had a heart attack when I quoted him £650.00 for a new front door. He said he expected it to be about £100.00.
I would say that the public may think that a disco will cost them £50.00 because it's just 'some bloke pushing buttons' in their eyes....Yep, ok...so the equipment gets itself to the venue, sets itself up and all I/we do is turn up push some buttons and that's it....NOPE!
