Okay I know this sort of thread is done every month but I have had to start it for this month as things are going crazy!

Okay so enquiry's have been coming in more-a-less daily in two's for the past week for myself, but I left the house at 4pm this afternoon to do Keele University Ball and have just arrived back to find 6 enquiry's sitting in my inbox!

Now this for some DJ's is possibly a common occurance but since been in the business I have only ever had this happen once before just before the festive season of Christmas!

I have also noticed that Saturday 16th May seems to be an extremely busy day for private parties/events is this happening across the country?

I have turned away 3 enquiry's for this date alone in the past 2 days. I myself have been booked for the above date since January.

I have also noticed a lot of late enquiry's for this month with people been either let down or just thinking they can get a DJ a week before their event!

This happening anywhere else?

Let me know your thoughts and how it is going for you?!

Smiles :D

James

P.S. If someone wishes to count the amount of times I have used the word "enquiry" in this post go ahead! lol! :D

Hi James

Good work fella, you are obviously doing something right!
You're website looks great.

Can I ask where your enquiries are coming from?
Are they from referrals, directory listings or adverts?

I'm just building up momentum having been out of the business for a few years, I'm not converting as many enquires as I'd like but I'm fairly pleased with the way it's going so far.

Cheers

Well its the only event I can find about that date. I often find historic events to do different discos for at work to teach the kids about more history

its swings and roundabouts on enquiries i find

some weeks im swamped and others are quiet and vice versa

there was a Saturday last month when i had 4 shows out, yet a local company (bigger than me) only had 1 show out! Brilliant i thought! Then the following Saturday it was just me out and they had 4 shows out!

We'd all like our work to be evenly spaced out, so that we can do every gig, but it just doesnt happen that way!

My next mentally busy night is a....FRIDAY, how strange? Friday May 15th - 4 shows out again, yet Nothing for the Saturday!

Hi Paul,

I have never payed for advertising.

Over the past month I have done a lot of work on my website from analysing the information I get from google analytics.

e.g.
What pages are viewed the most?
How long people stay on the site and on each page?
Tracking what path people take, etc.

Most of the enquiries this week have been from finding me on the internet although lookiong at the google analytics my actual company name "JDB Entertainment" is the highest searched phrase for me getting traffic onto the website. So maybe it could be word of mouth, etc.

On average over the past week I have had 1 enquiry for every 2 people coming on the site so not bad. I am yet to work out conversion rate, but I know this is quite high, at I guess I would say 80% i convert.

Yes it's been a good month for enquiries for me too, trouble is I'm booked for all the dates I want till October so I'm turning loads down!

Nov & Dec are pretty much as i want them to be aswell so not really taking many more for 2009.......:)

I wouldn't say mine have dried up but they have dropped a bit (ooh that sounds dodgy,,I AM talking about enquiries by the way).

Had 3 today...and one would you believe it for tomorrow but it's only light hire so it's easy to sort. The others were yet another 40th and a school re-union which happens to be at the school I went to and it's for the year that left 2 years after me...should be good.

I have also turned a lot of work away. As I am already more-a-less fully booked for the next 3 months.

Although the nicer week night bookings are coming in! :D

16th May is busy for me too. I have 3 rigs out have passed 2 gigs onto other people and have now turned down another 2 ???

A lot of October enquiries also but again I am almost fully booked, yet the summer months are nothing stsrtling so far and I must be in the minority for last minute bookings as I am getting very very few

Hi mate,

keep me in mind, for any bookings, got a few dates free still.

Sorry I didn't get chance to chat earlier, its far too busy for my liking today, and I'm a few members of staff short too :bang:

Keep an eye out for the West Mids meet too, it'd be worth you popping along for some networking. We'll be arranging one shortly.

Hay fella good to see you to! And I have to say that cluster laser was a steal at a price match! ;)

Shame it wasn't for me! Although Dave works for me so at least I know he has a nicer laser than what he did have! :D

Will definately pop along to the next meet as long as I am free.

Not round here.

The manic one seems to be Saturday 27th June. I was booked for this date two years ago, and in the last couple of days I've had two more enquiries.

I passed them both onto a colleague who runs an agency, but just spoke to him & discovered he had to turn them both away due to already having 5 bookings for that night...which is the maximum he can cover.

I would have been happy to, Darren...but I didn't keep their details after I told them to contact my colleague.

D'oh!
