Dynamo help please

Hi, I have recently bought four second hand dynamos (100w) the guy told me one of the lamps needed changing so i decided to change all four anyway.

One of the units still doesnt work, i have tried swapping the lamps from the other units but still no light!

From what i can see and hear the fan works fine as does the mirror. The colour wheel inside the unit works fine as well. I have tried wiggling the connection and cleaning it but with no results as yet.

Your help would be most appreciated, i need these working by monday and to know the best way to set the dip switches.

you can use just 3 to good effect so don't worry if you can't get this one sorted,if it's the master just flick dip switch 1 over on another unit and that wil become master.sorry i can't help with the problem though i am sure someone else will help

Sorry I can't help with the techy issue, but these are the Dip Switch Settings I use:

Unit 1 = switch 1 only
Unit 2 = switch 1+5
Unit 3 = switch 1+4
Unit 4 = switch 1+3+4

This give an exellent effect and are the only settings I ever use.

dip switch 10 reverses the unit which also gives a good effect

So if i only operate 3 units on monday night, whats the best way to set these alongside 2 rovers as well?

i would have them in the following order assuming your using a ca8 controller light 1(master) dip switch 1 on all others off
light 2 dip switch 10 on (this reverses the light so when lights 1 &3 go up this unit goes down,when lights 1&3 go left this unit goes right and so on if you want all 3 lights doing exatly the same turn this dip switch off)
light 3 all dip switches off
use the mode button on the ca8 to choose the speed of the units.
red light on slow mode and it don't strobe
red light off fastest mode with strobe
red light flashing faster again .
use the function button to change the pattern i.e if the lights are strobing press this button and they move on to the next sequence

these are great units,they do strobe a bit too much for my liking but a press of the button soon sorts it out.

Does the light not work at all ?

I had a problem with one of mine it seemed to work but once it was on the bar for 2 Min's it cut out because it overheated , the problem was the small C clip holding the fan blades had come off and although the motor was going around the blades were not properly, took it apart put C clip on has been fine since.

Took them to the nearest disco dealer....sorted...did cost though...:(

You're not kidding about your technical prowess, are you? :p :D :D If you can get the case open easily, it's a doddle to replace one. I use this type of connector, in a suitable current rating.

Yes I know that, but what may not know is when the fan is not working properly the light cuts out very quickly.

I will try replacing the lamp holder, that seems the most likely, as everything else seems to be fine. I'll let you know if i have any joy.

Do you have a multimeter? Can you check if you have voltage at the bulb holder?
