Was wondering if anybody has had any experience of buying from DJ Empire Digital's Web-site?

Mine has been a pretty awful experience and isn't yet resolved.

On 19th April I placed an order for an Impossibled, Hazer and some fluid and still I haven't received them.

I got no order confirmation by email but I knew the order had been accepted as payment was taken from my account on the following day. I waited 3 days and nothing had arrived so I phoned them and was told that some of the order was out of stock and should arrive within a couple of days. I waited almost a week before phoning them again and got the same excuse. Then after a couple more days I phoned and was told the goods had been shipped and I should receive them on Tuesday the 5th May.:)

I waited
and waited........

I called them again late afternoon and was told it had definitely shipped and If it hadn't arrived by 1 o,clock Teusday (6th)to give them a call.

So I did, 4 times in all and still no result just several excuses. e.g. "I can't give you the consignment number because the computer isn't on", "I'll call you back in 10 minutes" (was told this 3 times but they didn't).

Called again the following day and after several calls I was told that they had sent it to the wrong address. Finally got a consignment number and a promise that they would have the parcel redirected to me by the following day. Called the courier and it had, indeed been sent to an address not 5 miles from the shop (starting to smell a rat here).

Still not arrived the following day. Spoke to the couriers, they say no request has been made to redirect the parcel. Called DJ Empire again and they insist that they have requested it.

According to their terms and conditions they have 28 days to supply an internet order, according to the Distance Selling Regulations they are allowed 30 days. I'm now just going to wait until the time is up and ask for a refund if nothing has arrived. I expect they will take the full 30 days to do that as well in accordance with the DSR.

Anybody had a similar experience?

I purchased my sub from them 2 years ago and rang them 8 times for a receipt for the order ( for my accounts) lots of excuses but I still have no receipt. Same responces you had pretty much, its on its way, we already sent it computers are off but I wil send it later today.

I think the computer runs on pedal power and they have to build up the power gradually as it apparently takes them 20 minutes to turn it on lol.

I bought my DB Sub 15 from there and had no problems at all.

Thanks Tom. That's encouraging to hear. I guess when things go right they go right. I just wish their customer service was a bit better. They've admitted that they made a mistake so why not react a little quicker and do something about putting things right.

I couldn't agree with this more.

In building my business I've put a lot of effort in to getting the customer service side just right. This has resulted in my last 2 surveys returning a 97% customer satisfaction rating. This is not because I'm perfect and things don't go wrong. It's because when they do go wrong I work hard to put things right.

If I can do it then everyone can (and should)!

I've driven past them a couple of times and it never looks open. I thought they had actually shut down. Plus it does look like a bedroom DJ's heaven rather than a professional disco shop.

Have you managed to speak to an supervisor? IF not its sometimes useful to take the persons name that is dealing with your call because you can refer to them at a later date should you need to follow up the call.

Im sorry to hear about your experience but you should have protection if you paid with a card IF you should have to resort to this.

Yep. I'm on first name terms with the manager and his assistant (I've spoken to them that many times now). I asked for the name of the owner and all they would tell me is his first name but apparently he is never there.

I did pay by card but it's a debit card so I don't think that carries any insurance, or does it?

Anyway , as I said, they have until Monday the 18th and then they are in breach of contract, at which time I'll be asking for my money back.

Sorry to say same experience here, spent a lot of money with them and someone fobbed me off for 2 months over a flight case they had apprently shipped but couriers had no note of it. They never return your calls, all in all very poor.

I wish that the owner could see this thread and find out how bad a job he appears to be doing. Perhaps then their customer service would improve.

Looks like I could be waiting a lot longer than 3 weeks to get my goods. I ordered from them because they had the cheapest prices for the items I wanted. Lesson learnt I think, it doesn't pay to buy cheap.

If you said the owner is never there then hes not going to pick up on these things. Most sites do price match so usually the cheapest price for stuff can be offered by more than one site however you may get the odd one thats maybe a tenner cheaper for an item that costs £160 for example. I for one would be more than happy to list several sites that I have never had proplems with should you so wish?

Thanks Deckstar.

To be honest I was window shopping on a Sunday afternoon when I placed my order and may have been a little rash.

Having said that DJEmpire was the only site other than one other (HTFR) that had all of the specific items I decided to buy and at about £40 cheaper on the deal.

I have been buying on the internet for both business and pleasure for many years now and I guess I've been lucky up until now as I've never had any problems with receiving the goods before that couldn't be resolved by a phone call or two(even with the ocassional ebay purchase).

It's a pity that there are a small percentage of bad sellers that have the ability to lower your confidence in buying through this medium. Everybody deserves a chance and if we relied wholely on recommendations there wouldn't be the opportinity for new businesses to thrive. The number of traders offering similar goods is after all what generates competition and helps drive down prices for us consumers.

I did search for threads similar to this before placing my order but couldn't find any bad reports on them. Hopefully this will help make others aware.

I used to manage a smaller rival disco equipment retailers, and often heard about their stand-offish and aloof attitude. I also placed an order for a spare part some time back and never received it (although to be fair they never took my money). I think they generally can't be bothered with small sales. There are plenty more dealers out there willing to give you their time and effort for a sale, so just go elsewhere.

DJ Empire really is for the bedroom dj who wants to annoy the neighbours by blasting out garage music. They're not for professionals.

Update to my original post and thankfully a happy ending:)

Nothing had arrived Monday or Tuesday this week so I chased them up one more time. This time I told them I would only wait until the 18th at which time I would be holding them to thier terms and conditions of delivering the goods within 28 days of ordering and asking for a refund. They offered me a refund there ond then which I received on the 14th.

All's well that ends well but I could have done without all that hassle and deceit. :bang: Needless to say I wont be placing anymore orders with them and would advise all to think twice before doing so.

Whilst we shouldn't need to defend ourselves publicly over the problems that we have experienced with Nick, we would like to set a few things straight about the comments made in this thread.

Firstly Nick, whilst we appreciate that you are annoyed that you had not received your goods we feel that posting remarks in a forum such as this was unneccesary, as you rightly pointed out our terms and conditions do state that we will honour orders within a 28 day period or issue a refund however whilst you were looking through you might have noticed that we do ask you to call us to check stock before you order if you have an urgent requirement for the goods. We try to be as open as possible and admitted our mistake to you and when we could not fulfil your order we refunded you, which leads us on to being open and honest.....

DJMarc we have traced your order and it would seem that you paid half the amount stated here on the website and when it comes to leads as our terms clearly state they are not covered under warranty and £10.00 for a data lead is not expensive.

Twinspin or should we say John, looking at our records you didn't actual pay for a next day delivery you only paid the standard price for the case, we have never used APC as a carrier only Citylink, Business Post and TNT so perhaps they may have subbed the job out making any problems we had delivering seem more pluasible and if you had told us who had delivered it at the time we might have been able to find out what happened.

DJAndy to be fair did spend a lot of money with us however you did not pay for the flight case hence the reason it was not shipped.

As Ian pointed out we never charged him for the part as it was unavailable and to be honest Ian, Thurrock DJ isn't really even in our league let alone a rival.

We have been trading for 42 years and in that time have served thousands of satisfied customers, we will always do our best to fulfil our customers needs however sometimes events beyond our control lead to problems that we cannot avoid.........as the saying goes "you can't please everyone".

I think it's very necessary, so that people know where to go to get good service.

If I ordered an item and it took 28 days to come then I would be very put out and wouldn't be going back to that retailer, no matter what it said in your T&Cs.

I also don't think it's necessary for you to come on here to use stock phrases like "We have had thousands of satisfied customers" either.

I have to agree with Daz.

I think forums like these are a great resource to hear of others experiences with different companies. It's always nice to hear when someone has received good service, there have been many threads on the forum dedicated to such. On the flipside I like to hear when people have had bad experiences with a company. It helps me to decide which companies to spend my hard earned cash with.

i think it is always good to hear about other peoples purchases, good and bad. In this case and many of the other cases the problem seems tobe false promises and non returning of calls, which cost's us time and money to chase up and is annoying to say the least. inthis case you hd this guys money for for about a month and he still never got the goods. you must admit djempire that is a very poor service by anyone's account.

i agree you shouldn't need to defend yourself,if you get your service right you wouldn't have to,glad it is all sorted for you nick

A number of posts in this thread have been deleted at the request of the member concerned.

It seems somebody from DJ Empire has taken to phoning people who have posted in this thread to have a go at them for what they have posted.

As a consequence the thread is now closed & DJ Empire is now in the sin bin.

Consumers should be able to post of their experiences (good or bad) with any company.

After reading this thread in full, and the impression I get of the way this particular retailer treats their customers, DJ Empire will never get any business from me. I doubt I'm alone here!
