New decks case

Well at last after much saving and breaking my back going upstairs to gigs I decided to rebuild my decks into a lightweight case. I bought a new ABS style case from Terralac yesterday and I spent all morning retrofitting it for my upstairs gig tonight.

So far so good my old case weighed in at nearly 60 kilos without wheels . This was a citronic 3x 7x 4x U type case which has been great but heavy.
The new case weighs in at about 35 kilos all in so a great weight saving without sacrifising to much space.
Usual swearign was of course involved during fitting but we all know this makes the job go better.
Now have racked my D2 my dennon mixer and my cortex with my kam radio mic reciever in the case as well. Hopefully will all work ok tonight and more importantly will get up the stairs without giving me a hernia.

Will get some pics tonight if I get a chance and will re edit tomorrow.

Anyone else gone over to abs decks case? any problems can you let me know if has it been good for you?

Looks good :) I'm actually considering an ABS case too. I'm going to buy a set or backup CD players and i'm going to mount them in the same case as my current ones.

My current case is about 75% of the total weight which is ridiculous!

Where did you get your case from? I'm after a 4U by 9U (can be bigger though i.e. 11U)

The only problem I have found with ABS cases is that over time the catches tend to stretch a little, to the point that they start to fall off every time you move them.

True , but i found a 5mm drill bit and some new rivets fix that if it happens. My current amp case is about 3 years old now and it is abs and seems fine. Maybe the newer cases have improved a bit.

It's ABS so it's alot lighter than wood & metal.

Also Abs is a lot more forgiving in impact situations. Wood can break and splinter metal bends. But the plastic tends to just bend a bit and is flexibly. Although I must admit I hope it will not be necassary to find out.

Plastic is more Elastic, meaning when distorted and/or bent it won't break and will return to it's original form.

However once it's Yield point has been reached, it will stay in the new distorted form.

Therefore an ABS case can be more practical (and is lighter) than wood or metal.

This has very little to do with any of this, I just wanted to fit in with some other people that talk :Censored: :D :D :D

At least I learnt something in Physics when I did my A-Levels though lol :D
