I have bought several items from here, and some of which arrived in unacceptable condition.
Halegon Scanner - Battered box, no original manafactures seal
T Bar - Internal bag ripped inside box, faulty stand, and missing part
When Contacted, the correct part was sent, and this is not every item I order. Just occasionaly.
Has this happened to you?

So did they replace the gear or give you a refund? It's all very well moaning about someone, but you need to give them a chance to sort the problems out.
By the way, I have edited your post. You cannot post hearsay on this forum. It might not be true.

Yes
And so far I haven’t had any problems.
I can actually say the opposite about them:
Earlier this week I ordered some trussing and the company in question (not DJ Kit) let me down at the last minute (no stock and they didn’t let me know).
So I gave DJ Kit a ring this afternoon and they have gone out there way to get hold of the item and get it delivered tomorrow.
I will let you know if there is any problems!

Yeah i've bought from them.
I ordered 2 Starball DMXs from them, well so i thought because the demo vid they used was the DMX ones, but really i had ordered the non-DMX ones. Partially my fault, partially theirs for using the wrong demo vid.

I have not contacted them about the T Bar issue yet (second time), but shall do soon. The Acme Impossibleds arrived in perfect condition.
A Numark Mixer I ordered, the seal had been broken on the box, so they could save on the postage by inserting other items (RCA cable ordered) in there. However, there is no guarantee that this mixer isn't 'ex demo'.
The DMC Monthly CD arrived in perfect condition as well.
The reason why I am concerned is, If I order something expensive from there like a CDJ 1000, I would hate for it to arrive in a bad condition.

I think you are missing the point here Max - you have started a thread moaning about a company and yet haven't contacted them with your concerns or problems. What is the point of the thread?
If you contact them, they might be able to sort your problems and concerns out. You have to give them the right to reply! If they don't know of your concerns, how can they help you.
If you had been in contact and didn't offer any assistance, then fair enough, but you haven't given them a chance yet.

I have contacted them before about various issues, but not about the T Bar yet, I shall do though. They know that the Chauvet Intimidator is ex stock or whatever it was ... so I'll be telling them what they already know.
I shall mention it though probably, when I request a refund on the lighting stand.

What are you moaning about then? You bought a scanner which you knew was ex stock and not brand new and you are going on about it being in an unsealed box without instructions...:bang: Get a grip will you!
The only thing you have a gripe about is a ripped bag and a faulty stand which you haven't told them about yet so they can't do anything about it.
I am sorely tempted to close and delete this thread. What a waste of time.

Dj kit which is actually in Newbury not Reading is a great shop with fantastic knowledgable staff. I'm in there all the time as its my nearest well stocked shop. They have a fantastic showroom at the back of the shop with plenty of gear already set up which you are free to play about with.
I have spent so much money in there and have never had an issue with anything. Their warehouse is only a five minute drive away so if its not in the shop you can pick up and pay at the warehouse which is great.
As for the OP, i cant really work out what the issue is , if you don't order a perfect item, don't expect one.

I Paid Full Price for a Brand New Item, it arrived in 'Ex Demo' Condition
I Knew it was 'Ex Demo' just by looking at it, and Yes, I shall be complaining to them ... that's another thing to add to the list.
I'm pretty sure the shop is based in Berkshire, as I know a DJ from Reading who refers to it as his local shop. So, they can't be far away.

When I had a problem with the LED, I phoned them up but no one was there with technical advice, so they took my number and said they would get someone to call me back.
Has no call for a month. Called them back again, noted my problem and said someone will phone me back.

I saw them in person at DJSN and said that I bought some speakers from them and have a problem. They took my number and guess what....

Just an idea tom. When you call them ask who deals with it and who is going to be calling you back. Many times Ive had this with the day job and its funny how much higher the chance of getting a call back if you take a name.
Plus if they dont know whos going to be calling you then ask to speak to someone who does.

Here's an idea Max, quit your bitching until you have actually contacted them & expressed your concerns! If it's not resolved to your satisfaction then most of us probably will understand you having a moan.
I have to say every time we've used them we've had nothing but exceptional service & first rate products.
FYI, even if they were based in Reading, Berkshire as opposed to Newbury, Berkshire, neither of these places are in LONDON. Well I suppose geography isn't something you'd expect somebody who puts his location on a UK based forum as United Kingdom to be particularly good at.

I've used them. I emailed them, they emailed back.
I visited the store - received excellent service.
Picked up my purchases from the warehouse - received excellent service.
My accountant has always said no company can be the cheapest, the quickest and the best, but I found DJKit to be very good. Mistakes happen, especially in busy companies.
I've found in general that sometimes if something goes wrong (for example a phone call is not returned) it's better to communicate by a different method, try email or letter. Always get a name when you complain and go back to that person.
Cheers, Paul.

We used this company to buy some speakers when we started out. Boguht in a package, 2 soundlabd speakers with soundlab 600 watt amp [which we still have]
First of all one speaker went after two gigs, amp not on full and not maxing out gains etc. So they took it back and 'repaired' it, two gigs later both overheated. Obviously not happy as we paid like £200 for the package.
Rung them up and demanded we get speakers that were compatable for the output of the amp, and all they could offer us was an upgrade to the next package for an extra £100!!!
After long debate, saying they should give it to us for free, or atleast a heavy discount for not providing speakers tht could handle the power of the amp we paid the £100 and now had some NJD celestion speakers which ahve been perfect for us, for around 3 years!!
Worked out in the end, but just starting out it was hassle we didnt need and extra money we couldnt really afford! Gotta love the bank of mum and dad!
Steered cleer from them since.

I bought the 500 watt package for around £250 last July.
2 X Skytec 15" 300w Speakers [8 Ohms]
1 X W Audio 500w Amplifier [8 Ohms]
By being sold that package, I have lost 100w of Power, as the amplifier is actually underpowering the speakers.

1) you don't realise there is expirienced dj's/sound engineers on this forum who actually know what they are talking about or

Personally I'd always opt for under powering the speakers a little, less chance of popping the drivers trhat way. Not sure if that's technically the best option but I feel more comfortable being able to turn up the amp without rattling the cones.

Hi Nickybah,
Yes, It is certainly better to not work the speakers to their full level, less chance of overpowering the drivers etc.
But I have recently heard that underpowering them can also blow them, not sure totally how. Perhaps Tony can explain.

i took this from another thread ,i hope excalibur don't mind because it sums up the camps on this subject perfectly and it will be argued to death and never be resolved,i personally haven't a clue which is right so will keep out of the arguments
"quote Right, since the serious answers have started to filter through, may I point out that this topic has been aired very extensively very recently, usually resulting in one or more members believing that their earnestly held beliefs are the only true answer, and that all those who disagree are impugning their integrity as professionals, and their only course is to leave this den of iniquity forthwith!
For the umpty third time, I will set out the three firmly held creeds of amp/speaker matching. I know I've done this less than a week ago, please. please, please can some people learn how to use the search facility?
1: Speakers twice rating of amp so that you can't blow the speakers up. Except if you get an amp that really is too small, you'll overdrive it, and something somewhere will go bang, cos all the red lights are on like traffic lights.
2: Both equal. It must make sense, musn't it? If everything is the same rating, it matches. Hard to fault this logic.
3: Amp twice speaker rating. Theory is that since there is a fundamental inequality in the ratings of amps and speakers, this is the most balanced set up. and as long as you keep the amp signal down, it will run for ever at threequarter throttle, feeding a beautiful clean signal to your speakers, which in turn will sound lovely, and last forever.
I've got to turn this into a sticky, or at least a word document!
There you are, you pays your money, and you takes your choice. There are I know people on here in each camp, I'm not saying which you should follow, I hope I have set out some of the pros and cons of each. I lean towards three, but not with a religious zeal. I have blown gear up using all three theories, so the only hting to remember above all else is to keep all indicators of signal level green, and not to run any part of the system at absolutely max level.
More drink, and bed beckon now. "quote from excalibur.
1 thing i don't understand max is where is your missing 100w as i say i keep out of these discussions because i don't know what i am talking about. if you bought a 500w set up as you said and your speakers are capable of handling 600w then surely you have gained 100w(if you upgrade your amp).if the speakers were only 400w then you would of lost 100w. please excuse me if i am wrong but sadly that is what is puzzling me thats why i asked

I'd have to agree with that.
Max. If you feel that your not getting the full benefit of the 500w amp rating, check that the speakers are matched to the amp for impedence. If the amp is rated at 500w @ 4ohms and your speakers are 8ohms then you would be effectively restricting your amp to 250w.
Unless you are playing large venues or outdoor gigs, 500w driven flatout should be plenty of power.

No, but it is more of the norm to put your county or town (although one member did at one point actually put his full postal address in there). This is a UK based forum, it's a bit pointless for UK based members to put United Kingdom as their location. It would suffice for overseas members to just put their country as the likelyhood of somebody else on the forum needing cover from them is more remote. Then again, as you don't actually do any mobile DJ work what's the point? In fact what's the point of anything you do on this forum?

1 thing i don't understand max is where is your missing 100w as i say i keep out of these discussions because i don't know what i am talking about. if you bought a 500w set up as you said and your speakers are capable of handling 600w then surely you have gained 100w(if you upgrade your amp).if the speakers were only 400w then you would of lost 100w. please excuse me if i am wrong but sadly that is what is puzzling me thats why i asked
The Amplifier can obviously be upgraded, but as it was bought with a package, you'd expect the amp provided with it to be powerful enough to run the speakers.
500 watts isn't enough power really as there's no bass coming out of this particular system hardly. (probably due to brand)
Also, I wouldn't run any system flatout on full power.
Max has freely admitted that he only DJs in his living room
I only answered because you asked.
That is not my address atall Steve, isn't even an address of any existance close by infact. I'm from the West Midlands.

Try re-reading the first quote from andyw & the second quote from me in the post above & then think about how silly your replies look.
If you actually read the posts in the first place, your replies might actually make sense.
For example, my reply was that one member, not you had once put their full postal address as their location. It was not actually refering to the 12 Station Rd comment, other than to say that you weren't expected to put your full postal address on there. Andy's post was a quote from Excalibur (I think, although I can't be bothered to check) that outlined all 3 schools of thought on the subject. Both points are very obvious if you read the posts concerned properly.

Amp twice speakers, or speakers twice amp.

.
Max, do you ever read all of a post thoroughly?
There is no cast iron guaranteed solution. There are three schools of thought. Each has its disciples, who believe their way is the best.
It's all a matter of opinion. My opinion is that the larger amp theory has most to commend it. Like I said, it's an opinion, not fact.

Just to get the thread back on topic, I think I can see where Max is coming from.
He bought some gear from a reputable supplier and one of the items was faulty/bag ripped (T-bar), this could have happened in transit.
The second item looked like it was ex demo, the reason I am replying is that I received an Equinox Nebula laser from a different supplier and that too looked like it was ex demo. I didn't send it back as I needed it for a gig and it all worked fine but there were a couple of small scratches and the box didn't have the original seal but I was happy with the product.
What I fail to see is that suppliers can make "mistakes" in sending out ex demo equipment, they would have to physically remove it from the trussing etc at the store and rebox without the original seal, this cannot be done in error.
I would imagine this supplier will send out an original item if requested but to be fair they should have done that in the first place.

while i agree with you on some points ,max should of contacted the seller with the problems instead of coming on here telling us how bad they are.
max the reason i don't understand where you've lost your 100w is on the first post you mention this set up you clearly say you ordered the 500w system now you say you orsered a 500w system but was expecting to get speakers with twice the rating:bang:

Max (West Midlands) - 14 October, 2008 - Rating:
Great Budget! The speakers are wooden, and covered in carpet. When both cabinets are used, sound provided can be of a high volume, however they lack bass. The Warrior / W Audio Amp certainly will run for ages, and never get hot. Very good quality. The 3 metre speaker leads are acceptable when the speakers are positioned right next to the amplifer, but if on tripods, would not really be long enough. The cable itself and connectors are of the highest quality. The amplifer contains a few inputs, and outputs, which is extremely useful, as you can always be confident that any cable you use will fit it.
Sounds like you were quite happy with them..........in October!

That is indeed it Andy, and My Review as well.
I Contacted the Shop and queried the wattage, as it said something like 400w instead of 300w. I then went to the website, and it was corrected in no time atall.
It is advertised as a different speaker set, It comes supplied with Skytecs and is advertised with another budget make like Soundlab.
When writing the review, I was reviewing the product, and not the customer service.

So it's taken you 7 months to decide to make a complaint? You must have been happy with the package for the 7 months before deciding that you was mis-sold the product?

if it was advertised as a different set why the hell did you not send it straight back (like ollie in an earlier post) if it was 100w less than you expected, why right a good review if you were not happy, your review should of went along the lines of
i bought this set, the speakers and amp that came was different to that they advertise and was nowhere near the power they are advertising.
people read reviews to get an overall opinion of the product and service offered as an example my son wanted some ratchet spanners for his work, halfords had a set half price with a lifetime guarantee which sounded ideal, when we read the review someone had written that they had a spanner which had broken on the ratchet so they took it back only tobe told the guarantee did not cover any moving parts in the spanner:bang: from that he decided to stay clear of them and save some more money for a better set

Found DJKit to be excellent, you shouldn't expect low low prices and fantastic after service, but DJ Kit have been excellent and have replied to calls and queries, so a big thumbs up to them. I'd certainly use them again.

Of course you should.
I would expect fantastic after sales from anyone I bought from. Not that you always get it, but I would expect it.

DJkit.....I've bought an ImpossibLED, some Concorde style cartridges for my 'technics SL1200's' and a couple of Datamoons.
I found their prices & delivery very good however the Datamoons turned out to be 'B-stock' (had scratches on them that had been covered up with marker pen and had very suspect quality control paperwork!!) They were advertised and priced as new.
When I complained I was pretty much ignored, I managed to get £30 refunded eventually but it was a real struggle. TBH the damage was only cosmetic and the units worked 100%, and still do, but I will not buy from them again. :(

I have ordered from them quite a few times. I have been happy with the delivery and condition off the items BUT when I ordered a Firecracker strobe off their website, I received an American Audio one. I phoned back, to be told, "oh well we won't swap it as it does pretty much the same thing."
When I ordered my ultimax stand off them they had run out of the Trusslight version so decided to send me a single bar instead...even though I had payed extra for the Trusslight! They said, "well we have done that for the past few orders, because the trusslight version still haven't come into stock"
Obviously we had to send the single bar back and get it changed....:bang:

When i first got into mobile discos about 8 years ago i went there as they are in newbury and quite local to me.I took £1200 with me and they kitted me out with a budget setup which did me for a good few years. Then i ordered some other bits and pieces from them that turned up ok.The only problem i had was with a numark cd mix2 unit i bought from them.It started not to read discs in one player and making a loud buzzing noise.I contacted them numerous times and they said they would get hodl of numark but eventually i gave up trying with them.I got it repaired myself which set me back about 100 quid.
Their sales is ok but their after sales support was non existant for me.

I have. I bought a new flight case for my mixer and D2 Director but when It arrived, the inner wood was scraped and marked and there had clearly been rack mounted items in there previously, I accepted a discount for it but only because I brought it up with them.

I found that the Tee didn't fit on the post because the pole was inside it the whole time, but somehow didn't come out when I pulled the main pole out, so it appeared to be hidden, even looking down - it couldn't be seen by the untrained eye.
That still doesn't Justify a battered box, ripped bag, initially missing part, ex demo condition and UTTER Ignorance! from the Supplier though.
I sent a letter AND emailed with an attached copy of the letter as well.

I paid for something B-Stock and when it arrived it was BRAND NEW factory sealed
The service was second to none - well happy!
