hi iv just brought a new 6ft pro disco stand really looks great.

Just a silly question i like to ask how do you guys strap the power sockets to the top of the light stand.
I use a extension lead and stap it to the top of the frame behind the lights then plug all the lights into it but the problem im having is lots of loose wires.

I just want to make it look tidy any ideas would be greatful thanks

I have 'converted' all of my lights with a 3-Pin plug to IEC, so I use IEC extensions, which I make myself, that connect the light to the Switch Panel in my console.

the same as scott then we use velcro to tidy up the wiring

yes i do the same. I got a black deckstand and naturally use black power cables. Run them across the stand and then down on your side of the poles and tie them secure either with velcro or black gaffa tape which I use.

im kinda lost now i do most of my discos on my own so set up is very limited

so i wanted to make some idea on how to do my light set up so i dont have to spend ages taping down cables with gaffa tape

In all fairness an average gig I only need to spend maybe two minutes taping down the cables. You could always work on prewiring the t bar?

I ended up making up a set of junction boxes with about 4m of 13A cable terminated in a standard 13A plug going in, and then 4 x 1m 13A cable terminated in an IEC (female) socket. All of my lights either have flying leads terminated in male EIC connectors, or have male IEC connectors built into their chassis. I then attached 2 x velcro straps to the back of the junction box. Then when I put up the deckstand I strap one of these junction boxes to the back of the mounting point where the horizontal bar connects to the vertical posts (and the mountings hide the junction box) and then run the lead down the vertical post. I can then connect 8 lights to the bar with minimal effort (and strap any spare fly leads to the vertical bar using velcro) - and all this usually only takes seconds to put up. For speed you can just slip the box onto the end of the horizontal bar on velcro loops (or bolt it to a cross drilled hole in the bar - but I don't as the bag I have for my deck stand wouldn't accomodate it).

Cost of the boxes was about £15 each (buying the IEC connectors from eBay, the junction box, strain relief grommits, cable and 13A plug from Screwfix)

sounds good do you have any links or pictures of what i need to get hold off ie the velcro straps

what iv done is i have brought a 6 pin extension lead tape it to bar across the top and then plug in my lights leaving the cables dangling then i get loads of gaffa tape and try and hide wires where i can looks messy from behind the booth but ok when you look at my disco just take me a little while to get it looking good leaving not much time for sound checks ect ect

The velcro straps I just got off eBay, but they're just Velcro cable ties like you can buy in B&Q (or Screwfix again). I don't have any photos, but I'll try and take some when I'm out next weekend.

We have had this one many times before but anyway this is what I use it beats lots of cables hanging around.

I use reusable cable ties (Linky) (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0417625#header) to secure the cables onto the rig.
