Hi all,
Had a voicemail left on my mobile earlier this morning from a guy from BT customerstreet?? He said he had seen my site and wondered if I had any dates available for some gigs in and around Swindon. I have no experience of these people, did a quick google and had a look at their site. I just wondered if any of you guys have had any dealings with them in the past?? He wants me to ring him as soon as possible. What do you think??
Cheers

What do you think??
I think I'd ring him back to get more details.
Until you know more, you can't make any decisions!

A standard sales pitch IMO.
These people really annoy me when they say stuff like "Could you handle more work"

A standard sales pitch IMO.
Could well be, but andy will never know if he doesn't call the guy back.

I've spoken with customer street before... basically the same approach, sounded like they were another company with gigs to offer, but eventually transpired they wanted to sell me advertising.
I told them I wouldn't be dealing with them, due to the fact they'd tried to deceive me and they got really pushy so I ended up just saying "goodbye" and put the phone down on them.
So my recomendation would be to avoid!

Fair enough, then.
I hadn't looked at the website when I posted before.
In that case, I'd ignore it.

BT Customerstreet offer proven internet marketing and design services to small and medium-sized businesses.
It's a sales call, why can these people not just be honest when they phone?

Just had them call me again, same kind of thing.. they have 52 enquiries for me apparently. I'm suprised BT want anything to do with these kind of companies to be honest, but it seems they do -

I've had calls from them,
You'll find they need to be told "politely" where to go before they back off ;)
They've left me alone now :D

I told him £299 was too much to risk on a phonecall out of the blue, he started along the lines of "oh, well if cost is the issue.. we may be able to..", to which I told him the issue wasn't the cost, it was that his approach was completely misleading, he kept changing his story and that he hadn't inspired an ounce of confidence in them as a company. Seemed to do the trick!

Me too. It's easy pickings just to go through all the phone no's on here and call them. The guy started to get slightly rattled with me when I said I wasn't spending any more on advertising.
Having said that £299 is not just for one year though. It's for the lifetime of the deal. The bonus is that you get them doing nothing for your money in years 2,3 and 4 also-at no extra charge:)

Just had another call of them.
This time it wasnt BT CustomerStreet, it was just BT:eek:
Started the same way as last time though. I asked if they were CustomerStreet, guy said yes, and carried on his pitch.
I told him i wasnt interested in advertising and got told (im not changing this in any way BTW):
"We are not selling you advertising, we have a customer in the workington area looking to block book a mobile disco"
How bad is that......

That's more or less the same spiel that i got,
"We have a customer in the Swindon area that requires block bookings and they see you as an ideal person to fulfill their requirements"

I just had a call off these guys.
He in fact told me they got my details from here!!
Uusal pitch as you lot have stated in previous posts.
Its actually a 299 registration fee (but he can have a word with his manager!) and then 59 pound + VAT a month.
I said can I see a working example of where you come out on top of a search engine.
He said they are top of the 3 major search engines.
He told me to go to google, so I went to Yahoo, but they didnt come any where when I typed in "mobile DJ in Essex".
That kinda shut him up.
But then carried on with his schpeal.
In the end, when he went to go and get his manager to get me a cheaper price I hung up and switched me phone off.
I'll probs have a few voicemails now.

I got the call today from these guys.

Hew went on and on.
Its 299 registration fee + VAT and 59 pound + VAT a month.
Pretty steep.
I asked how he could guarantee me bookings, and he said he could.
He said he's got customers waiting for me right now! lol.
Anyways I asked for examples of where they come up in engine searches as he told me they always come up tops in the top 3 engines.
So I asked for an example, he told me to go to Google and type "x" search in.
I did, but by using Yahoo.
They didnt come anywhere.
In fact, Id never heard of BT customer Street before reading this thread.
In the end, he told me he could get me a cheaper price and went off to speak to his manager, and as he did I put the phone down and switched it off. He'll probs leave me a few voicemails now then.

They phoned me again yesterday.
I also said I couldn't handle any more work, so there was nothing further they could say!
They also admitted to getting my details from UK disco.

Had the phone call today. Said someone I knew had also had the same sales technique from them, signed up and had nothing. He said they would never do that.
Told him my advertising budget has been allocated already so I wasn't interested.
He got so snotty with me and put the phone down.
Quite funny really.

I had a similar call yesterday asking if I'd like to be on the first page of Google.
I asked him if this would involve getting more work, and when he said yes I told him that I'm already fully booked and have no capacity for extra work, so it would be a waste of time.
He thanked me for my time & that was the end of the call.
