CD Cases

Okay, here's how it stands.

I have More CDs than case storage. Currently stored in one hard flight case.

I don't know whether to continue with hard style flight cases, or whether to use the modern soft binder equivalent. For example, Slappa, UDG etc.

I want the Album Info (track listings, rear artwork) to be with the CD, but in a seperate sleeve, so it doesn't interfere with getting the disc out etc.

Does anyone currently use these, what have you got, can you reccomend any?

The trouble with the binders is that it takes time to flick through them, which is why they never appealed to me.

In my CD days, I had most of them in their original jewel cases in a couple of flight cases.

That way, I could see what I had & where it was with a quick glance.

However, towards the end I ran out of space & didn't want an extra flight case to carry, so I reluctantly started putting some of them into cardboard covers.

I use the little CD wallets from Tesco

holds 24 CD`s http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-7615.aspx

But I only use CD`s for background music now .

I also keep my cd's in their original jewel cases, and then store them in flight cases. I find this easier for me to find what I want at a glance instead of flicking over 'pages'. I have seven cases at the moment on a homemade stand behind the deckstand.

I don't find it particularly funny though Steve, especially with My Avatar Editing Functions etc withdrawn as well.

Will you remove me from the 'Sin Bin' then, and restore my ability to modify profile settings?

Sin Binned members lose all editing rights. As for removing you from the Sin Bin, it won't be happening any time soon. Name calling doesn't help your cause either.

I use a mixture of cases, somone i help out from time to time just has 3 HUGE anglian cases and put slots inside of them, they weight a tonne.

Slappa case. Brilliant cases my old binder type if you flicked the page over too quick cds would go flying out!

That lost me, foreign language and all that :D.

To answer the question, i (when i used cd's) used binders with tracklistings in front of the actual cd. The tracklisting was typed out and printed so i wasnt cutting up my booklets etc and you can fit a peice of printer paper and a cd in the one slot. I found it easy as you can scan read like a book and locate tracks quite easily.

In relation to the other point raised, i (personally) dont agree that you should be able to purchase CD Pool as your a bedroom dj (that said, atleast your buying and not going off limewire). All the other promo companies im signed up to checked i was working with various venue managers.

I think CD Pool is for anyone within that Category.
They say "DJ Only" and bedroom, club etc is still a DJ.

Record and Studio people may find some interest to them as well, I don't see any harm whatsoever in purchasing music.

It's like saying you should only buy a electric drill if you're a Builder.

Professional Means you do it full time for your sole income.

Quite a lot of Mobilers these days are part time, and just turn up at the weekend. This allows them to be more flexible with their rates, as their main income funds bills, council tax etc.

That is My Point, you don't have to be a builder to buy building materials.

Just to clarify 'Professional' means you do it as your full time occupation. Quite a number of DJs are only Part time, does this mean they shouldn't be permitted to buy such products?

No it doesn't! The only main criteria for being professional that you'll find people agree on is that it involves being paid.

For exqample, Rugby Union players used to be amateurs (meaning that they didn't get paid for it & in most cases had other jobs), now they are professional, they get paid for it.

Being professional at something doesn't mean that it is your sole occupation / employment. For example David Beckham is a professional footballer. This doesn't stop him from earning from personal appearances or making adverts etc....

Do you get paid for DJing? If the answer is no, then you are not a professional DJ.
