Did a great wedding last night - not a great deal to do as there was a celidh (is that right?) band on for 2 hours... but everyone had a great time.
when arriving i spoke to the owner - it was a new build venue, a barn type in the middle of nowhere.
as part of the planning permission they had to fit a limiter - fair enough.
it was se a 95db, but was literally a metre away from where i was asked to set up.
the owner told me the 'red coloured' sockets were for the sound equipment, and the others for anything else we needed, BUT if we plugged the lights into the red sockets and our sound into the normal ones, then if the limiter was exceeded the power would initially only cut the lights - giving us warning to turn the sound down.
i was told that if the lights had gone off and the limiter was still flashing continuous red then the power to the rest of the normal sockets would go off within a few minutes , so you had to turn down.
very clever either way, it saved the sound and equipment being cut off and whether the other plugs would have actually cut off no one knows, but we didnt take any risks.
anyone else ever come across such an idea, seemed a really sensible one to me?
