Budget Hazer

Looking to get a budget hazer this week, does anyone have any suggestions or opinions? I'm currently looking at the Acme HP-2S, has anyone used this?

Yep. Run one for about a year with no probs (other than the sheer size of the thing :eek: ).

I've got one too, but I have heard others have had major problems with pumps and fans on them, so be careful!

Just bought one a few days back and very pleased with it so far. Have to say though, when I first tried it out the unit powered on but no lights came on on the remote and nothing happened when I pushed the button or switched on the timer. I got the odd puff of smoke if I pulled out the remote connection jack about halfway. Figured this meant there was nothing wrong with the Fazer so set to on the remote and found a dry joint. Bit annoying to have to fault find on a new unit but it works fine now.

Nickybah Ive never used a hazer but on my smoke machine you need to leave the machine on for at least five minutes to heat up once thats done then the light comes on.

The power light on the unit itself does come on straight away

Your right. It does take a few minutes to warm up but now it's fixed the lights on the remote pulse until it's reached working temperature. I must admit I waited for about ten minutes when I first tried it expecting the lights to come on when it was ready but nothing happened. The dry joint was fortunately easy to find with a meter as it was very close to the incoming tracks for the cable on the PCB.
