Or do you rent an office.

I don't have a fax machine. I accept the booking form back by mail or email. If they're returning via email they need to have a scanner, so they can sign, date then scan and email it back. More than 50% of my clients choose email rather than post. Either way is good for me.

They sign mine electronicaly, Or manual return in the post to one of 3 mailing address's

2 are rented address's for extra business pressence

I normally receive booking forms either in the post or delivered by hand.
I don’t think the type of address matters, I personally think a house or office type address e.g. 6 Apple Street is better than a PO box, its more personal.

My business is run from an office at home. So I use my home address

Same here. My office is at one end of my living room.

I have a feeling that might only be for limited companies, although I'm not 100% certain.

On the subject of returning my booking form/contract, I don't have a fax, and I send out the booking form by snail mail, so I require the same form to be returned with an original signature.

I don't accept actual bookings by email, only requests for bookings.

The confusion is caused by the requirement to publish names and addresses being published on websites, thus:

Companies Act 2006 and Business Names Act 1985

Every UK company should list on its website:

its name;
its company registration number;
its place of registration; and
its registered office address.

Sole traders and partnerships who carry on a business in the UK under a business name (very roughly, not the names of the trader/partners) must also make certain website disclosures:

in the case of a sole trader, the individual’s name;
in the case of a partnership, the name of each member of the partnership;
in either case, in relation to each person named, an address in the UK at which service of any document relating in any way to the business will be effective.

That said, I've known about this for a while but haven't yet posted my details up. Should do really.

I know that Insurance Companies won't accept them, and Loan Providers certainly don't, as they can't chase you up on unpaid fees.

News to me--as I dont get any advantage from registering a business name---as you used to years ago by paying a fee--I wont bother.

When I register a new website I never get this pointed out to me by the host either.

My own view is that it's no more classy or professional looking than using your home address.

I can also see the disadvantage of delays in receiving your mail, as presumably you either have to go to the address to collect it or alternatively have it forwarded on to your home address.

My mail comes through my letterbox first thing every morning...sorted!

It is picked up from there rob, I got a good deal for 12 months rental on the box, costs around £60.00 a year, As with anything ill try it and see how it goes, If it doesnt work to full ability ill drop it

why would my business model need a pdq machine for CNP transactions, A virtual terminal is for more suitable, If you have customers visiting your premises then fair enough tony a PDQ is more suitable, i don't know your business model so couldnt comment

But for me its more MOTO you will be familiar with the terms tony :).
