Just wondering if any of you clever chaps/chapesses know if there is a sound effect available that sounds the same as if you'd just sucked in some helium and spoken. :D

I reckon this could be used to have a real laugh.

The process is pitch shifting, as i'm sure you are aware! You'll need a processor or some audio editing software to do it.

Would probably have limited appeal though

Is this for Disco or personal use ?

It would indeed, I was thinking as I mostly do pub gigs and a mate might want to have a 'karaoke minute' I could switch it on for a laugh. Or maybe in a rugby club if somebody is using your kit to make an announcement or speech. It's purely for, as you say limited use in the right circumstances with the right people. It's not for when the best man is toasting the happy couple etc!

If you want to do it in realtime you have 2 choices really.

Your best bet would be to use on out board processor then. You can pick up one of Ebay for about £30 that has pitch shifting capabilities. Just run your mic through that or set it up on send and return on your mixer for karaoke.

Your could also use a VST pluggin if you use a laptop, but it would possibly clash with any DJ software you use plus you would have to run the mics through the laptop.
