Lucas Performer speaker system

Hi folks!

I've just been speaking to a friend who is looking for a new active speaker system, and he found the Lucas Performer system online which he likes the look of...so I'm starting this thread on his behalf.

Does anyone have any experience of this speaker system?

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated, and I'll pass them onto my friend. Thanks in advance.

Well its HK for one :D
And it sounds lush i know a singer with one very nice sound clear and a good punchy bass line

great systems. mooth and the sub is phenomenal.

only downside is everything is contained in the sub, so if something goes wrong with it everything goes down..

Its probably great for singers and performers for quick setting up but for DJs are those 8 inch speakers really suitable from an aesthetic point of view--i.e. how they look.

Is there a danger people might think on looking--crikey I have paid xxxxxx
and thats all we get.

Im told in some venues its said to be an advantage to have smaller neater speakers:confused:

If you took a look at one of those Lucas systems without listening to it the first thing that may cross some peoples minds. How will a small system like that cope with mobile discos with 8" tops and the one 15" sub.

I was one that was fooled by the size. A few years back i wanted a system with the extra bass and a guy who i know was retiring from discos and was selling a Lucas 1000 having seen the pictures of it. I said to him id go round and have a look despite been offput by the size of the system.

As soon as i heard it. My money was down on the table before he asked me if i was interested. I was that impressed with it. I dont have it now because i needed something bigger for events over 150 people. The system never let me down and even now at the right price for a smaller system. I would never hesitate to buy another.

Best word to describe the lucas..... "BIG SOUND" in a small package they have plenty of bass. The small satellites are powerful as well. If thats the type of system your looking for. Then i would recommend the HK myself it will do up to 150 people.

I have a Lucas Max 600 sytstem and the sound is very clear, the bass from the bass bin is nice and to be honest it's a very nice little system for jobs upto around 50 people.

The only downside the bass bin is abit on the heavy side and they can be awkward to load in and out of cars.

to be honest pound for pound i think these type of systems are the best out there. dont be fooled by wattage either - they give off a great kick!

also, i havent checked this particular system out but similar systems i have used use 4ohm satellites speakers so they can be deceptive volume wise.

downsides;
easy to chip - make sure you get some covers.
all eggs in one basket (everything is in the sub).
bass cabs can be heavy if on your own.


if you demo some, play 'billie jean' or 'don't cha' through it and youll buy it there and then!
