Ive found a company called GVG Disco Lighting on the interweb http://www.gvglightsonline.co.uk/

Has anyone hever heard of them? A number of their lights look like other budget makes with a different name but and a not too bad price.

They import stuff from China and rebadge it. I met them at PLASA a few years ago and they also sell on Ebay too.

as darren says, They have a fair bit on ebay but they dont sell alot on there, The stuffs cheap though on ebay

Had a punt on a laser from them off of eBay about 18 months-2 years ago.

Lasted about 91 days when it transpired that the "warranty" was 90 days.

Getting "customer service" was like pulling dinosaur teeth.

Wouldn't recommend.

would rather buy of prolight, As the dealer deals with all warranty for anything prolight, So if you buy from a good dealer problem solved

Part from Prolight have reliable sources (ie Acme), and have a big brand name following.

yeah i think your moneys best spent elsewhere steve, If you look on ebay i just tried to find there items quickly, Alot dont sell

However there moving heads 299 a pair is well cheap as they come flightcased

The stuff is incredibly cheap - a friend of mine bought a set of Barrell and Mirror scans (2 of each with flight cases) from a friend of a friend at a ridiculously low price a while ago and I've borrowed them a few times since. GVG price these at £199 a pair including cases. They've got 250w Halogen lamps, they're plenty bright enough and the programs/colours/gobo's are pretty good. I'd say they're a little above the Acme Dynamo league in terms of output and functionality. I haven't had any problems with them yet at all, my only criticism is that the set I've got (which are their "high end, high output" product) are painted this weird cream colour and the mounting bracket is set so that they always hang below the bar making them nasty to look at when you see them on a rig (and quite obtrusive). In a dark room I guess this is a relatively minor point though.

When I get a free minute I'll try and post a few photo's/video's.

That's the starting price and they are not proper flight cases either.

They rarely go for much more than the starting price (I've seen plenty of pairs of DMX LED barrell scanners go for £49.00 a PAIR!)

You're right though, they're not proper flight cases, the cases I've got with the scanners provide "basic" protection, but despite being aluminium, they flex like they're made from PVC! The scanners themselves though are constructed from pretty heavy gauge steel, but of course that doesn't really help the mirrors or lamps...

The only reason I didn't buy a pair was because they don't have a small hand controller like the CA-8 with them and I use that for blackout, to stop strobing and also to move the heads manually.

That was when they were £300 each though a couple of years ago.

At £300 a pair, the answer would definitely yes.
