I would of thought he could get a decent light show for that! If not I'm shocked.

Roughly how big is the football club?

I would have thought you could get away with a set of 4 scanners, a couple of moonflowers and maybe a strobe.
Remember the ye old saying, keep it simple.

Another point I presume you already have some truss. If so how big is it?

It’s just that I’m trying to judge the scale of the event and what would be needed.

Have you enough audio equipment also ?

DynamoTom
04-06-2009, 08:03 PM
Hi,

I have enough sound equipment to cover the venue space. The lighting im requiring is 2 moving heads, 4 scanners and 2 barrel scanners.

The scale of the event is 200 kids and the venue room is big. I am providing 3000 watts of sound system to cover the venue room and they want extra bass so i am taking 4 subs and 4 subs.

I have a 6m triangle truss and a basic budget cross bar with 2 stands and 2 t-bars.

My budget is £200 max

Don't you mean 4 subs and 4 tops?

Why don't you just use some scanners they do the same job by putting gobos around the room and it would also be cheaper for you to hire scanners and a strobe that will give that "nightclub" effect rather than moving heads.

Just my opinion.

Most rigs are pretty comptact and can fit in most cars, so sheds, bedrooms, kitchens have no question about it.

There are no lies, the equipment list is all up to date. Items listed can either be owned by the company, or hired in, available for roadshows.

Dynamic Entertainment

Just for the record Tom, i wouldnt generally have posted up what i did (i have my moments mind), but there are plenty of djs round my neck of the woods that advertise something (or some service) that they are not, or not providing and its giving us all a bad name. Every other call i get for local discos, generally also inclused the question "Is the gear in the pictures really yours?"

No one is expecting you to have a nightclub standard set-up, especially not at 15, but from what youve said regarding your current (actual) set-up its better than what some "seasoned" djs have.

Also look at it another way, from that of a potential client. They stumble across that website and see all that gear listed. Go to google and type in Tom Newton AllStarEvents and get this forum (it does happen, it has with me) and they read that your wanting to hire equipment in. Would you book you, after all what else have you made-up/gotten wrong on your website?

I personally would suggest Tom & Max that you use the search facility and see what happens when people come on this forum thinking they know everything and want to tell people with a lot more experience what to do, etc.

If you both want to make it in this industry I personally would pipe down ask questions properly and not jump to conclusions or tell people false information.

I wish you both the best in your business ventures but I am not going to comment on any of your threads unless they are constructed properly, etc.

I know you will not get much help on this forum if you carry on the way you are going. People on this forum are here to help and give advice when needed and you can either take or leave it but slowly people will stop posting on your threads and you will have no advice or help given by anyone!

OK, with me. Just remember there are older and wiser people on here who manage to sniff out BS at 100 paces, and you will get caught out. :)

Ps, as for the upcoming disco. my recommendation would be to stick with what lighting you have and spend the £200 on some big strobes. most year 11 wont have seen a proper club so the lighting you have is fine, and 16 year olds love strobe lighting 9i know, weve ran 6th form parties in the club, and all they want on is the strobe all night long. http://www.djstore.com/item/prostro12.htm?affid=froogle

Also, if your allowed, get a smoke machine too (if you havent got one).

Instead of asking to start again, just get on with posting. People are going to be less likely to say "ok then" as you've been dishonest on more than one occasion.

You actually have to be very careful about this now - I can't remember if this has been discussed recently here or on another forum (I think it was on another forum), but new legislation was introduced recently regarding misrepresentation of your business and/or services. Essentially if you obtain business by appearing to be something that you are not by advertising services or products that you yourself do not either provide, or have an established contract with a third party provider to supply, then you leave yourself open to a criminal conviction along the lines of Obtaining money by deception, or "Fraud" as it's most commonly known. If your advertising products or services from another company without their consent, then I'd think that it would be VERY difficult to prove that you have an "established contract" for supply with them!

Another thing - if you do use a third party to provide a service then you should also be displaying the text "Supply of some products and services may be sub-contracted" either on the product page or in your contract/terms & conditions - again, it's all about being honest with your client and providing some level of transparency (though to my mind, burying statements about service provision in the T's & C's isn't that honest or transparent, but is a common business practice).

Julian

Hmm I recognise this kit list

From My Understanding, the list of equipment published on the website, is items that the company has access to, and for example by hiring Moving Heads off you Max, Tom has access to them, available with the roadshow in other words, so I consider it fair to list it.

I'd just like to remind you, based on this subject, if anyone knows why the dual scanner isn't picking up signals from the software using the USB Dongle, can they post information below.

Ok but i havent got much movement apart from 3 dual scanners.

That's quite alot of movement though. I'd normally go out with a couple of LED fixtures (ImpossibleD, etc), LED washes (recently acquired) and between 2 and 4 mirror or barrell scans (depending on the size of the venue).

I'm not being ageist, but you're half my age, and seem to have twice the amount of kit ;) Maybe I've got tighter as I've got older :D

I'd have to agree with that style and size of rig.

I Totally Agree, A Pair of Impossibleds and LED Mystics would work a treat.

I have a pair of Impossibleds and a CA8, Works Well ! :beer1:

[QUOTE=DJMaxG;347574]I was correct Shaun, he had only got one cable out to test the new dongle, which I have heard does not work with the double Acme Dynascan (similar to dynaroll). It just doesn't seem to be picking up DMX Signals, does anyone know why this is?

Lucky You ! :p  I'm sure it's a genuine call :)

Well you gave him my number MAX so thanks for that!:Censored:

It would be nice to be asked first and not assume!!!!!!

As I mentioned at the start of the OP sometimes small is better than big.

For a School Prom for 200/300 people the max amount of lights I would take out would be 7!

AND

that is if it is a BIG room.

My Lighting for this gig would be:

Dynatwin, Dynaroll, Acme Exercet, Impossibled, Acme Exercet, Dynaroll, Dynatwin

In that rig I "know" you already have 2x Dynatwins so there is 4 scanners in 2 units all ready!

Personally Tom, i dont think you need the scanners as you already have Dynatwins. Like i said, if you want the "clubby" feel go for a strobe.

I'm terribly confused by both Tom and you. The whole setup and partnership between you both is very strange. You don't do Mobile Disco's so why do you have Impossibleds?

I don't offer Mobile Services, due to lack of rig, transportation etc.

But I fancied a pair of Impossibleds at the time when I bought them, I was very close to purchasing a pair of 12" Plastic Cabs as well, but decided not to in the end.

Considering the LEDs last a lifetime, or a very long time, they're definately a good buy, and I shall probably use them on rigs in the future.

to answer your other question Charlie, Tom and I know each other personally, I don't work for him or vice versa.
