Mixer With Usb / Sd Card

Hi all,

Just in the final stages of kitting out one of my DJs - and we're considering getting a mixer with the built in SD card or USB backup.

has anyone used these or can anyone recommend one?

this will combine a mixer and a backup system for him.

Ive never used one, but ive heard (personally of people who have one), that these are decent little mixers.

I personally cant see the point of SD cards for back up--if like me you could survive an evening in a specialist area --Country--or Barn Dance fair enough--otherwise if you have around 4,999 general tracks all that fiddling about with cards would stress me out at a time when I would be stressed out to start with having lost my main hard drive:eek:

And having back up of the most played tracks available just doesnt hack it-- :(

Theres always a request for something your not expecting---do the job properly and give customer value by having your complete collection on a second hard drive.

I would have an SD as back up, but only have a choice few songs on it that are (generally) guaranteed floor fillers. that way it can be accesses in seconds whilst the laptop gets swapped out etc etc.

I wouldnt like to have to run a full night of Sd though :)

I have the american DJ sd1 mixer, it is very good and also very useable. I have 2 SD cards, both 2gig and they are sufficient for emergency backup... indeed I have worked on several occasions using just one card alone, when there has not been a demand for requests. It was relativley cheap and provides a robust fast back up. The SD card can be played back on any channel, and whilst one track is playing, it is possible to search for then play the next track seamlessley. It also has vari speed and keylock. I wouldnt want to work solely from this, but as an emergency backup it is perfect. Sound quality is excellent, also, from insertion of card it can be played within 3 seconds.

Not really, Mini Discs for about 10-15yrs---tried some CDs very briefly then went straight to Cortex.

I was really meaning the size of them, I can just imagine losing or dropping one in the dark---:eek:

Also a lot of my customers are hitech users so they expect a modern entertainer to have tunes at the end of a keyboard link and to have complete back up of all tunes.
